<votive> For my neighbor, L, and her husband, A, as she struggles with his worsening dementia
<votive> For all victims of the horror in Sri Lanka
<votive> For all in need
For all the victims in Sri Lanka
For all who need our prayers, specially those who feel they cannot ask.
For my brother K who is going into hospital today for major surgery.
Praying for Sarasa's brother and Rosswiesse's neighbour, and for Sarasa and Rossweisse.
Asking prayers for me today. Tonight I will take on the neighbouring parish as well as my current charge and while with my head and with my faith I am sure it will be fine and I will learn the new way of working and my current parish will cope with seeing less of me, and the new parish will get used to me, today I still feel like crawling under a rock.
We have a Sri Lankan family in our church and most of their family back home attend one of the churches bombed on Sunday. They feared the very worst until they found out that their parents, brothers & sisters, their spouses and children attended a Saturday Mass instead. It hardly makes things any better, and they have lost friends, but the family is intact and we can give them some support.
Not a request for someone I know IRL, but since it came up in a discussion of books in Heaven, I thought I'd mention over here that some of us have been blessed by the work of American Christian writer Rachel Held Evans, who is currently hospitalized in a medically-induced coma after she began experiencing brain seizures while being treated for an infection. She is in her late 30s with two very young children. Prayers ascending for her recovery, and for her husband, children and extended family during this terrible time.
A boy at my son’s college was killed by a train 2 days ago; he was just 18. Please pray for his parents who must be utterly devastated. And for fellow students.
Praying...
Please pray for my Beloved Goddaughter, whose exams begin this week. There's been a nasty virus doing the rounds here, and Beloved was under the weather throughout the Easter holidays, which didn't help with her revision. She was supposed to be at a study session yesterday afternoon but couldn't go because her mother had a seizure in the morning and Beloved had to stay with her. Plus for some unknown reason, her mother destroyed her Higher English notes last week (might have been a petit mal absence thing).
Praying for the beloved Goddaughter and others in exams (my Giraffe) and the pressure put on children to choose their future - or so they see it - by a certain age.
The people in the San Diego synagogue attacked by a gun-man on the Last Day of Pessach in San Diego.
The woman killed (Lori) was the friend of a friend...
1.Less security at the door and almost no security awareness in general.
2.People concentrating on something else than what is going on around them. And with their backs to what is often the only door
3.Shock value
Aside: I am feeling completely vindicated in the last year or so as I have been On About This for Years and noone has taken me seriously. Even telling me about "a pile of angels guarding the door"!
Oh Galilit, I'm sorry to hear about Lori and this latest atrocity. Terrible to have to anticipate this kind of vulnerability while at prayer. Prayers ascending for all affected.
Prayers too for the Beloved Goddaughter and Giraffe as they write exams.
Heavy rain, strong winds power cuts and flooding here. Some of these houses will have been flooded several times before as remedial work hasn't been completed. I am going to bed to keep warm and pray for all those affected.
I should be safe from flooding. Fingers and toes firmly crossed.
Please pray for H and her husband L, devoted members of our last church's 'other' church in the parish. After months of pain and being told she had gallstones but they weren't bad enough to operate, she's now been informed she has terminal abdominal cancer.

What is it about attacking people while they're at prayer???
