Prayers continuing to ascend for all in need.
• I am going to give a prayer list that is pretty long, sorry.

Please pray for K (as in earlier list) who has gone into hospital today, not sure if just for a check over or something more serious.

Please pray for S (K's husband) who is both trying to support K and keep his head above water as church Sacristan.

Please pray for again on the list who has had the first cancer op and is home but with more treatment to come. Please pray for S, D's wife who is trying to do the usual hundred and one things she does for church and support D.

But for the last on the list a thank you that J's cancer is in a state where any treatment given is likely to be detrimental to his well being for no real gain so is not having any. He feels healthy in himself.

Then pray for Mum who is 90, has severe dementia, diabetic and in hospital with an infection and two breaks to her left leg. She is due a hip replacement op.

Then pray for Dad who is 90 in a different home to Mum not feeling to well but will also want to see Mum. He might feel I failed him as I did not take him today because we thought Mum's op was going to be today.

Then pray for C my sister who is highly stressed over it all and has been off work this week.

Then pray for me. Due to mums admittance to hospital last night I got four and half hours sleep. As I was not needed to take Dad to see Mum I went to church only to find out about K. I am sub-sacristan when S cannot make evening mass and no other server can cover or it is an emergency then I cover. I have to be in a good state to function in a meeting tomorrow afternoon.

Just sent a text to C (not my sister) because she was not at church tonight. This normally means that she is not too good.
• @Jengie Jon you sound beset, so prayers for you and those whom you hold in your heart.
• Amen!

• Praying for JennieJon, those mentioned in her post and for all in need. 🕯 🕯 🕯
• C ( not my sister) just has a cold.
• Well, that's good to hear. Praying through for you and those on your heart, @Jengie Jon. And remembering @Piglet, @Rossweisse, @Lamb Chopped, @Alex Cockell, @Robert Armin and others.
Last night and this early morning when I was praying I could hear the stags roar on the hillsides. Praying that we will know God's love as powerfully!

• Praying through.

I made a really bad mistake about time zones and submitted a paper after the deadline while fully believing I was on time.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=uRWfeeAd_Ww

Now I have to figure out where else to submit it, with what's left of my travel budget, bearing in mind even if I have money left I can't use it after a given date. I need to figure this out today, and I need some wisdom and guidance.
• Have you contacted the organisers, explained and grovelled? I know someone who had a late submission accepted in similar circumstances?
• <votive> for all, those mentioned here, those unmentioned, for the sorrows we know of, and for the sorrows that we don't even dare to divulge to ourselves, or to others.

But God knows us more deeply than we know ourselves. This is comfort.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Oh Telepath - what a total bummer! Hope you can salvage something from it.

Prayers ascending for you and all others in need.
• Have you contacted the organisers, explained and grovelled? I know someone who had a late submission accepted in similar circumstances?

AhHAH ha. I did even better than that.

I noticed that the track I was submitting to wasn't in the dropdown list, so I emailed the chairs and said "Hey! Do you know the XYZ track isn't in the list, even though it has the same deadline as these 3 others that are in the list?!? I'll submit it to another track, with a note! You're welcome!" They were going to be so pleased with me for pointing out their error.

I added a note to my filename IT'S FOR THE XYZ TRACK, WHICH LIKE YOU, IS STILL OPEN!, I added a note to the beginning of my abstract OHAI THIS IS FOR THE XYZ TRACK, and I attached another note for good measure that THIS IS ACTUALLY FOR THE XYZ TRACK WHICH IS STILL OPEN. Then I emailed the chairs to tell them I had submitted my paper, like I'd said I would, to this other track, which is also still open. Just in case that wasn't clear.

So the next morning I get an email from the conference chair saying "You probably couldn't submit it because you were after the deadline."

So they made it quite clear I have egg on my face, and as a bonus it's visible to the chairs of all the other tracks, to whom I emphasized it in the loudest possible terms.

It could have been worse. It was 6am and my head was spinning, but I just managed to stop myself before I hit SEND on arguing with Australians about their own time zone.

Anyway, thanks, I'm sure your prayers helped because I did find another venue to send it to, got it in just before the deadline, and it looks like I can just squeak by affording it. So THEN I safely told my supervisors how badly I'd screwed up - in the past, long ago when I wasn't as wise as I am now.

• Thanks Piglet.

For Pendragon’s Aunt S in Australia, for healing; and for upholding for P, her husband.

For Ross.

For Jengie Jon et al.

For Ross’s D, for healing, and for upholding for T.

Problem Cat was hit by a car last night. He has a fractured pelvis at the very least, possibly spine too. Maybe a ruptured diaphragm. He may die or be paralyzed. He was out for 14 hours in the cold before dragging himself home this morning, so low body temperature was a problem. I called him last night at midnight, and thought I heard a thin keening noise, but I wasn’t sure. Now I think I probably did hear him.

Telemum is seeing vascular surgeon this morning. She also has chicken pox. We make our own fun here in the Telehome.

Prayers for L. who is doing a Master’s in $THING which we volunteers have been working with her on for months. It is 2 weeks till her exam, which we are participating in. After months of ignoring her, her tutor (also her examiner) has come back requesting a host of nebulous but fundamental changes, including that she take the $THING out of it altogether.
• Praying for you and yours, Telepath.
• Okay, so, initial vet quoted $BIGNUM, on top of which they now have to transfer him to another vet who added an estimate of $BIGNUM for his diaphragm, plus $BIGNUM for his pelvis, and they aren't sure about his bladder so no number was mentioned for that. Also, practically anything else could be wrong on top of that.

The max our insurance will cover is SUM($BIGNUM, $BIGNUM, $BIGNUM)/2 and also these vets want payment upfront, to be reimbursed. Not to mention costs of ongoing treatment. yikes

Anyway, the Telemum is back and says disgruntledly that "new skin is growing" etc so not great, not terrible. She will go with me to the new vet for the appointment as I don't physically have the credit limit to pay for it all myself.
• Problem Cat was in intensive care, now going in for surgery...
• Problem Cat out of surgery. Diaphragm tear repaired, breathing improved. His fractured pelvis can only be treated by caging at home for 2 months, which sounds a lot better (and cheaper) than another major surgery.

I am reminded of a documentary I saw about a couple who had a pet hippo. The hippo lumbered into the house and settled down on the couple's bed, which broke, after which she was not allowed in the house any more. The wife objected: "Oh honey, I think she's traumatized." One day they decided she was lonely and tried to mate her with a male hippo who was in the neighbourhood. After setting up the date, the husband retreated to hide behind a bush, chaperoning from a distance. He mused, I'm going to die, and I'm going to win a Darwin Award, and on my headstone it will say, Here lies the idiot who thought he could have a pet hippo.

Well, that's kind of like us and Problem Cat. But this time it looks like we might just squeak by under the insurance limit.

Poor Problem Cat - I do hope he can be mended without breaking the bank!

Just to say Mum had a hip replacement on Monday. She was subdued today, drifting in and out of sleep. Dad's view is that they have as much chance as anybody of getting her better. I tend to agree but that does not mean I am optimistic.

Just to add insult to injury I seem to have caught a cold.

<votive> For all in need

Update on me in the Hellish "Cancer Sucks" thread.
• Prayers for all above, including problem cat.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
• Praying for the Telefamily, Jengie Jon and for all in need. 🕯
• Praying for @Rossweisse and others.
• For all, but especially for Problem Cat. Sorry, will always put cats first. @Telepath - when my Great White was hit by a car the vets claimed directly against the insurance rather than me having to pay out first. It worked. Worth a try?

• For Jengie and parents.

For Ross. #TeamRossweisse I pray that you’ll heal, without irradiating your brain in the process. BACK OFF ROSS’S BRAIN, ACCURSED CANCER. In fact, go away altogether.

Thanks, Fredegund, these vets require payment up front, darnit. The good news is that Problem Cat will require only the one major surgery, so we will most likely come in under the $BIGNUM limit.

Problem Cat was breathing on his own as of this morning, and was taken off oxygen. He will spend tonight in the ICU and be transferred to a normal kennel for the weekend, then come home to the cage I have ordered for him. His diaphragm was torn all the way across from left to right, which apparently is unusually bad. So, thanks everyone, for your prayers. The Telemum gets much good cheer from Problem Cat's company, so for her sake if not for his, this matters to us.

The Telemum is quite knackered from too much activity yesterday and keeps getting dizzy from it. It would be great if *she* could get better soon, too…

For intentions private and public over this next weekend.

• Amen!
• And Amen!

The Telemum is being treated for high blood pressure but keeps getting symptoms of low blood pressure, and they're getting worse and worse. Just insisted she dial 111 about it. This has happened before. Ayyy

Problem Cat is doing fine, according to the vet.
• PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Glad to hear Problem Cat is doing well; hope you can get the Telemum's BP sorted out.

Prayers ascending, from another who's glad she isn't a politician.
• Praying for all in need. 🕯
• Had surgery to remove my gallbladder this morning. Feeling very sore. Prayers for a good uncomplicated recovery would be very valued.

And prayers for all...God knows.
