Oh crikey - does he have any choice? He really shouldn't be anywhere near people who might have Covid-19.

    Prayers ascending.
  • I think he has a choice, as our kid has just gotten a scholarship, and a new ministry frontier is possibly opening up for him now that would not require endangering himself. But I'm having to let him sit with the decision--arguing always turned him stubborn. We've had the discussion, and now I must wait.

Please, God, give Mr. Lamb the wisdom to make the right decision.

Praying now about Mr Lamb's decision.

I think the tactic of stating your case and shutting up is the best.
It puts the full responsibilty on him to decide (unmitigated by your expressions of understanding, sympathy, forgiveness and (God forbid) assurances of love

I have PM'ed you with my experience of this situation

Yikes! Prayers for discernment for Mr Lamb and patience for you, LC.

For all in need of prayer.
  • Prayers for @Lamb Chopped and Mr Lamb (and different kinds of prayers for his boss). Prayers for Skip and all the others who face what he does in one way or another.
  • Can I add prayers for my daughter who has applied for a job in a care home. I am praying that she gets it - because she is 20 and healthy, and although she has no experience, she is kind and willing and better her than someone of my age or over.

Praying for your daughter, Cathcats. And for the Giraffe.
  • Spoke to the Giraffe last night and he is doing well. He is teaching English to kids (since the teachers are in lock down mode) and I shudder to think what they may be learning! Highland vernacular at the very least.
  • @Lamb Chopped, that sounds terrible. The boss needs a good dressing down. In the meantime, prayers for Mr Lamb, and for you.
  • Prayers for Mr Lamb’s decision making

Oh Lord! Prayers for all above and that Mr LC looks after himself 🕯🕯🕯

Proper thing - good on the Giraffe! I'm imagining the children of South Africa (have I got that right?) growing up with a wonderful sort of hybrid accent ...

Prayers continuing to ascend for all in need.
  • Prayers ascending for all. Please pray for the soul of M. Who died earlier in the week from melanoma. Still not forty. And for the comfort of his family. Cathscats I try to remember Giraffe every time I get worried about my son being in the UK instead of home in Australia.
  • Thanks @WormInTheGrass that means a lot. I will remember your son as well. They have no idea how parents worry if they are not parents themselves.
  • It looks like Mr. Lamb has fought with God and lost--which is to say, won. It's still murky what exactly he's going to do--apparently the boss is not ready to outright fire him, but IS prepared to furlough him indefinitely until if/when Vietnamese clients return to the day center--and it's not clear whether any of those people will be coming in or not, as they change their decisions daily. So things are still up in the air. But at least Mr. Lamb has told them that doing in-home visits (as a non-medical person, with no PPE!) is out of the question.

Remains to be seen: how we deal with an adult hyperactive who desperately wants to be out and about, is hugely extrovert (and thus needs people!) and yet wants to abide by quarantine regs. Yikes!

Right now he's out in the garden, with the temps in the 40s. :open_mouth:
  • 40 centigrade?!

Certainly in the 1960s, there were communities in South Africa where it was normal to speak with a Scots accent. My dad once offended a South African by asking where in Scotland he came from. I think South African's grandparents had emigrated from Scotland.

    40 centigrade?!
The US uses Fahrenheit, not Centigrade.

Glad that the Lambs lost and won, LC!

  • Fahrenheit... So between 7 and 8 Celsius. After a rain, which makes it raw and a bit breezy. As in, no sane human being...

Asked a moment ago what he intends to do today, he says. "I'm going to walk." Asked where, he says, "Around the (small) house." I informed him he was making me crazy, at which point he agreed to watch TV. For now.

    We'll see.

  • LC--

Glad re decision. If boss continues to be troublesome, Mr. L might mention OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) to him. And the fact that he'd be sending a Vulnerable Person repeatedly into danger, which would damage his business's reputation, and possibly get him into legal trouble.

    Just a thought.
  • (:votive:)

May everyone and everything have everything they need, especially in this crisis, in the best possible, least harmful way. May everyone and everything have enough hope to keep going without self-destructing. May everyone and everything feel loved, in a way they can cope with.

For me: private intentions, usual health stuff, coping with isolation and practical issues.

    Thx.
  • LC--

In a pinch, maybe he could contact people by phone to evaluate them?

He's been doing that from time immemorial, because he's a pastor born and can't stop himself from caring for people--though he CAN do it in safe ways. But the problem of course is that Boss X can't charge for a visit by telephone or at a safe social distance, and that's all that matters, isn't it? To him, anyway.

So the people will continue to have care simply because they're human beings and Mr Lamb is a Christian and a pastor.

But X will have no money. Which isn't causing me to cry bitter tears of woe.

(Yes, Mr. Lamb is considering whether we need to /can find a way to rat the boss out to the appropriate authorities--the COVID authorities, that is. I am deeply cynical about whether anybody else would give a damn about the fate of an elderly Asian worker in a tiny city business taking care of elderly minorities.)

Today the NZ Cabinet decide whether the level 4 lockdown will go down to level 3. I veer between thinking it should and thinking it shouldn't, but I don't have access to all the information.

Whatever decision they make I am asking for your prayers.

Kathleen D. of Dumfries, Scotland - cleared to go home tomorrow!
91 years old and beat Covid19!
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    Wow - well done Kathleen!

Of your charity, please pray for the victims and their families of the mass shooting over the weekend in Nova Scotia. These things aren't meant to happen in Canada.

T, who I mentioned a while ago above, died at home this afternoon. Please pray for comfort for his wife and family 🕯
Praying for Nova Scotia as well 🕯
Grateful for the news of Katherine.

My friend Bess died yesterday. She was at least eighty years old and had COPD, so it wasn't a surprise. Please pray for her and her husband John, who is blind. They lived in an assisted living facility, which means he will have all the help he needs.

The funeral will not be held until after the lockdown is ended, which makes it extra stressful for John.

Praying through, thankful for Rossweisse's news and Mr Lamb's decision and wondering if there is any news on this?
Chaim Schneur Zalman Yehuda was placed on ECMO on Wednesday. His left lung collapsed, then they got that up again, and his right lung collapsed, and then his left one recollapsed. Today the news was they could possibly remove the tube from his right lung tomorrow if he continues stable.

  • Mr. Lamb wavered this morning in his decision and is now in a major snit with me. I am in a snit with him for even considering endangering us all, given the fact that there is absolutely no need for it bar the fact that he's going stir crazy and won't control himself. Basically I'm giving up--I have no idea whether he will go among the infected or not, and I'm not asking.
