Prayers, please, for the tinder box that the U.S. has become. Peaceful protests have become riots and looting. After being quarantined for almost three months, with people losing jobs, etc., the climate has, unfortunately, been ripe for this. Trump seems to be provoking them. And, of course, prayers for all who have been the victims of police brutality, including but not limited to, George Floyd.
Lord, may everyone take on board the message to love others as ourselves, so that no longer will there be some looked down upon, no more ‘us and them’.
Thank you God for the love and resilience in Minneapolis. May we get justice for George Floyd, Jamar Clark, and all our murdered Black brothers and sisters, and a completely overhauled police system. Finally, thank you God for all the young people serving, protesting, and loving their neighbors.
Praying for all, specially those living with governments that are failing in this time of crisis.
Can I ask for prayers for my brother K and my friend, another K? Brother K is obviously still not well. He's told me he needs at least one more operation, and probably a permanent colostomy bag. Reading between the lines of the last zoom chat things potentially don't sound good. Friend K has been ill for weeks. She should have been to see a consultant but the appointment letter failed to arrive so she missed her slot. She is waiting for an emergency referral.
Praying for all that post here, and those that need our prayers and cannot ask.
Oh, yay! Oh, hurrah! My outpatient surgery to check for cervical cancer or any other "womanly" issues is scheduled for July 23! My surgeon first suggested June 18 but that's my birthday.
Anyhoo, thanks for everyone who prayed for me!
Good on her, Nicole! A friend of mine in Orkney has a daughter who lives in New York and went to the first protest at the weekend; I'm glad to say she made it home safely afterwards.
<votive> Praying through, for all by name (or initial)
<votive> For all those affected by covid-19, by unemployment, and/or by the violence in the United States
I come in every day to update and pray.
We are, today, desperately in need of prayer. A hoped for event that could have given useful information has not done so, and we cannot see where to go next. My friend has not slept all night - it's now nearly 8 am and he is still sitting, depressed that there can be no resolution to his situation.
I do not know what to do. He won't let me write to the person who could tell us what has been said about him. But probably would stay silent on the matter.
Another friend is all for escalating action, and has the skills, but my friend is concerned that doing so would lose him friendship and access to academic circles.
It seems to be an impasse.
It would be a lot easier if we could travel to the place and have face to face discussions, but lockdown doesn't help us.
Please pray for today’s career, S. She had noticed the icthus on our car, and she said she had been christened and confirmed, had gone to a Church in Wales school and goes occasionally to a church near her home. I ended up giving her a potted history of my Christian journey - christened, confirmed, becamE a Christian in college, baptised by immersion, ended up back in Anglican churches.
She says she still prays occasionally, and I told her that God loves her. I ended up telling her about Holman Hunt’ s picture of Christ standing knocking and asking to come into our lives. She asked if it was as simple as that, and when I said it was, said “Jesus, come into my life”. I had a spare holding cross, so gave it to her, and she said she’s going to carry it with her.
This was all in a quarter of an hour call!
Please pray that she will find other Christians amongst her friends, and that she will pray that again, that Jesus will come into her life and be real to her.
The plot sickens, as my namesake would say. We called the owner to see if we could at least retain Mr Lamb's phone number, which he had brought with him into that employment and which is widely relied upon in the immigrant community to get care in emergencies, etc. She affected not go know anything of his firing, and claimed she had been told Mr Lamb had suddenly resigned without notice in a temper. Which is undercut by the many, many people he spoke with in the office about returning to work when the place allegedly re-opens Monday. There is at least one liar in this mess (the man who called to demand the phone) and very likely more. I have no desire to see him return to work there, as the place seems a snakepit, but we will have to wait till Monday for the next installment of this thr-r-r-illing drama. Ugh.
LC, I am praying that this works out well. That the liars are exposed as such.
And all the rest here.
BTW, that capital A was not in place of a name, it was an article going with the hoped for event. However, I'm sure God knows who it is. I've been careful not to use a letter, just identifying him as my friend. But A will do.

Not sure if it extends to things in general, but I have a sudden sense of God's presence.
And for Penny S’s A, and everyone else here.
Prayers ascending for you, Mr. Chopped and your family.
Oh crap. Prayers for the Lambs, Penny's friend and S.
Little Beaky is also on my mind. >votive<
