  • Thank you. That's a new one for me.

Our hosting company has planned an extended period of downtime next weekend.

The forums will be unavailable from 18:00 (UTC†) on Saturday 31st October for a period of several hours. Yes, hours! All being well, the forums should be back online not later than 03:00 on Sunday 1st November.

    † the same as GMT.

Thanks for the heads up. But...tell the truth: all the H/As, techies, etc. want to go trick-or-treating then? And you all don't want to leave some poor lonely soul to herd cats keep us in a modicum of order?

    'Fess up! ;)

Thx to all of you for all your work! You rock!

  • Sounds just like a short firebreak to stop the virus spreading. Or have I been watching too much news recently?
  • UTC is the term used worldwide. It's like sort of like Centigrade and Celsius. The latter is the worldwide term.
  • UTC is Zulu time if you are a flyer or military (as in the Zero meridian).
  • At last after more than twenty years I have witnessed a post by the semi-mythical @pease ! I feel humbled and honoured! It is like the end of Bigfoot and the Hendersons except maybe even more mystical!
  • ROTFL!

Don't you ever read the Styx?

For useful Ship information, such as the information in this thread, which is in the Styx and which you apparently are reading.

Because we talk about you constantly here?

@RooK, you of all people should know better than to mention posts that have had to go to the secret arch

Oh! Right! Not at all meaning to imply that, if I still had full-Admin powers, I'd change the name of this board to the "@balaam Fan Club!!!  ".

Because I believe it is in the T&C you agreed to when you signed up here that you would.

Also, you find out who is throwing their toys out of the pram and hoping for help.

    I am honoured.

I didn't realize H/As have storage privileges at the Vatican's Secret Archives. Or do you just sneak in a page or two, here and there, now and then, and hope no one notices?

Sounds rather like the Borrowers, from the kids' books of the same name.
    ;)

Able to connect a couple of minutes ago for the first time today. No idea what happened in the interim though and probably would not understand it if someone tried to explain it.
  • GD--

Scroll up to pease's post on Oct. 25, 2020. The Ship was in dry dock today (Sat.) for maintenance.

    But...it's...BACK! Wheeeeee! :)

    Thanks to everyone involved!
  • Gee DGee D Shipmate
Yes, I knew that work was being done, but no idea what that involved.
  • Does that mean we, as crew, have to holystone the decks and do a full inventory of sails and lines?
  • Gee DGee D Shipmate
    That's probably coming.
  • I thought the new ship was steam driven.
  • RooKRooK Admin Emeritus
One could argue that it is motivated by hot air.
  • So it's a dirigible? Or a hot air balloon, with a *huge* basket? Will wonders never cease!
