A typo for MPs? And a hope that they'll act courageously?
Presumably so. Sticking ginger up a horse's backside was an old faker's trick to make a tired old nag suddenly seem rather more, well, wide awake shall we say?

Ouch! The thought of the House of Toddlers (at Wastemonster) being more wide awake rather stretches the imagination, no? The thought of sticking something up their backsides is, however, appealing.
One can but hope....and pray.....and fast.....(well, we are in the penitential season of Lent - ITTWACW), and vote SENSIBLY when the time comes!
It seems that the SNP, though they want article 50 revoked and a people’s vote are willing to compromise with a vote for a Norway style Brexit to protect jobs. Hopefully that will shut Treeza up. I doubt it.
The SNP, ISTM, are (apart from the sadly far-too-small Green Party), the only sensible participants in this train-wreck....would that they had more clout....
With the obsession of the Torys with maintaining the Union at all costs, I suppose the SNP could remind everyone that if Article 50 is revoked then the immediate basis for Scottish independence evaporates.

The greens do have a chance for another MP this week......
Unusually for a green party in Europe, the LZP is generally considered a centre-right party. Leading politicians of the party have often supported reactionary, nationalist, and anti-LGBT positions
Sorry if you have already read that.
A number of Green parties in Europe and in other places like Mexico do not fit the stereotypical mold of Green politics.
Since all options were voted down again what are the cabinet going to talk about for 6 hours tomorrow? MV 4 must be on its way back. There are few faint glimmers of hope but really, this stupid.
Presumably they all know that if the third time wasn't lucky then the fourth is certainly not going to be. Even if they manage to scrape it through with a very small majority in favour of the deal they'll have done it by bullying, threatening, belittling Parliament. That's going to leave a lot of pissed-off MPs, very nearly half of them about to be the voters for the first round of electing the next Tory party leader and PM.
What's left? They need to be doing something to appear to find an alternative to no-deal on 12th April (since the HofC has voted conclusively against that). That means they need to talk about elections in May, and what they can try to sell to the EU as the basis for a long extension.
I guess he wasn't at church on Sunday, to hear the lectionary reading of Paul recounting all the bodies of Israelites strewn across the desert. Treeza obviously needed to hold her meeting a wee bit later in the day to allow her guests to get to church first.
Nor the circumcision of the Israelites before they could re-enter Canaan.
So a long cabinet meeting today. Dare we hope for something sensible or will just result in bloody MV4? One idea getting a lot of airtime is the PM using the threat of an election to bring people in line. That would at least give us a chance to do something
Well, a threat of no-deal or no-Brexit hasn't been enough to bully even her own party to vote for her deal. Maybe a threat of holding EP elections in May will do the trick. Though, it's a shitty way to play politics.

I think the point is that there is no incentive to be loyal as a Tory MP. Even if they all voted for the deal, it still wouldn't pass.
x[post - replying to Eutychus and checking numbers
Yeah - 5,973,301 and counting - which has got a debate on Monday as part of the indicative votes. I suspect some members of Parliament will be concerned as 25% of their local constituency has signed the petition, but the areas that voted Leave are still not voting in anything like those numbers or protesting as much - the Leave Means Leave protest today garnered hundreds - the People's Vote parade had a million.
If my MP is anything to go by, they couldn't give a stuff. It's all about the Brexit.
There are 6m+ others who are concerned enough to sign a petition. A million + who travelled to London to march to demand a say on whether the deal is acceptable. Much as I find the Ship a place of great value, I'm not sure a few more voices here will be all that impressive.
I agree she is totally deluded. Labour really needs to step up to the plate. The fly in her soup is tomorrow night’s indicative votes. If they come up with something how will that effect the talks with Corbyn?
After all runs time dissing him she is wanting to work with him. She is saying the WA has to be on the table.
We live in interesting, sorry bloody stupid Times.
I think she is probably grateful that Brexit takes everyone’s attention off how she has buggered up the country in other ways.

She has a history of blithely ignoring facts that she finds difficult to her position - I am unclear why you think this time will be any different.
It won't.
FTR - I have a long e-mail history with my MP, and felt like giving him something different to read. I suspect he hasn't come across it before.

Things change so quickly in the Brexit debacle that you never can tell. I am not 100% convinced she will behave differently but we can live in hope.
I am trying to not get too concerned about all this.
There is one consoling thought: if we do hard Brexit and it's as much a disaster as expected, then Certain Politicians will have been found out and will sink into the Matmos, never to be seen or heard again.

Don't you believe it. Jeremy Corbyn and various anti-Leave figures will get the blame, for failing to carry out the "will of the people". I expect the tabloids have the pages set already.

Eh?
Because whatever outcome the UK actually gets will have been different from the ideal outcome that Leavers will compare it with.
And will, of course, be entirely the fault of the Loony Left. May, BoJo, Garbage, and the rest will float to the top of the mess, like the scum they are.

The Brexiteers have to be forced to wear their own shit in public. Repeatedly. I have no idea how to achieve this at the moment, given that the spectacle of Brexiteer Brexit secretaries unable to tie their own shoelaces without faceplanting hasn't had the desired effect, but it is essential.

It will be the fault of someone else. These people tend to shift blame and come out of it with new roles from their friends.
It may be that this time, the consequences are so immediate they will struggle.
They are working really hard to get Yvette’s Cooper’s bill through to force the PM to take No deal off the table perminanly. They have voted down two amendments to limit the length of an extension. We coy,d seriously be looking at a long extension with EU elections. MP are being told to prepare for it.
Piglet it forces May to go back and ask for an extension. Which delays falling out of the EU. They need it to sort out the problems. However it has to get through the House of Lords and get Royal assent. It is possible for that to happen today.
The problem is that that if the EU won’t talk until the scheduled time there is really no time left to sort it out before we stumble into a hard Brexit.
I am trying to not get too concerned about all this.

In my view, that was the primary predictable outcome of Cameron's Referendum. That whatever the Leave Package finally decided, it wouldn't satisfy.
I think of the nice, well-meaning idealist who went into the booth to vote for Leave, aiming for a bureaucracy free legislation, devoid of expenses scandals and welcoming only the useful kind of immigrants to Britain, while ensuring the good-hearted Brit got first dibs on free health, housing and employment. But also putting their tick in the same box is the reactionary, far right-wing, racist, survivalist (yes, we do have a few of these in Britain!) who's been stocking up on shotgun cartridges and bottled water for the Armageddon since 2001. Oh, and then there are all the other pro-Leavers along the spectrum from 'hopeful for good things' to 'getting back control of our country'.
Someone's gonna be really, really disappointed. It was the only logical guaranteed outcome of Cameron's fucking referendum. If he gets a decent night's sleep at all, it only goes to show that he must have the conscience of a psychopath.
Sorry chaps, the breaks have failed and it looks like there is nothing now in the way of tumbling off the cliff except a really ricketty fence.
Situation critical.
The only hope left appears to be that the EU offers a long extension and the PM accepts to avoid hard brexit.
I think you mean brakes are off, but it is defintely broken.
As for survivalists we can go back to the looney General Sir Walter Walker (a very brave soldier but mad as a box of frogs in other respects) who was up for this in about 1975. He was tapping up all sorts, from retired soldiers, sailors and airmen, to the McWhirter twins and Michael Bentine and the bloody awful Justice Melford Stevenson.

Yes on a purely practical level this is true - and it’s equally true that neither of those constituencies will get what they wanted and the incentive will be for the Tories to run on a culture war platform.

He doesn’t look well.
It must be quite an effort to be that privileged.
He is like Tim Nice But Dim - but without the Nice part.

BTW, I see that Latvia's president, Raimonds Vējonis, is a Green.
There is hope.....faint, but there, nonetheless....
One day (beyond my lifetime, I guess), this Fair Land may have a Green government and President, too....

I think.....

So why did so few of them vote in favour of any of the alternatives last night? A maximum of 37, as @chrisstiles pointed out.
I don't know, but I guess it is something psychological about voting "for" anything suboptimal.
If my MP is anything to go by, they couldn't give a stuff. It's all about the Brexit.
Because I can't take this any more.
Yes, we've all here been wrong more times than I can count, but the PM is totally delusional. Utterly stark staring deluded.
FFS. Please EU, just say no and put everyone out of their misery.
Please, Lord, release us from this Misery.
Yes, I know we ought to be careful about what we wish for, but, as mr cheesy says, FFS.....
Why did you link to the ship??
