I have a Skype interview tomorrow for a part time doctorate. Obviously at nearly 50 this is a bit late to suddenly take my academic career seriously but doing this would be a dream come true. I’m beginning to get a bit anxious now so would appreciate some prayers.
Many thanks
Never too late. Say this to yourself through the day.. many years ago a prominent judge in Sydney retired. He enrolled in learning Hebrew at Sydney Uni to keep his brain active. I have forgotten retiring age but it was well past 50.
Lost my gig for next year (due to weird exigencies in rules governing certification). So at the end of August the money runs out if I can't find another gig. Not even sure I want to teach still, after the last 5 years.

I started my PhD at 46. It was a dream come true. Praying for you, Heavenlyannie.
Thank you for that prayer list @Curiosity killed
For all that need our prayers and cannot ask.
On going prayers for my brother, K. The operation seems to have been a success, but my brother then caught an infection and nearly died. He seems to be slowly recovering but it is going to be a long road. Prayers also for his wife, J. She's been very supportive of me with the whole saga of getting my mother in a care home, plus looking after a ten year old and holding down a stressful job
@Heavenlyannie
I know of at least two people who have started their PhDs in their fifties. One doing one of Play in worship and the other looking at the role of hope among those who are ill.
I did not finish mine until I was 51 but that means I did most of it in my forties.
<votive> For all with job worries
<votive> For all on @Curiosity killed's list
<votive> For my good friend M, who got bashed in the head and knocked to the floor last night when a heavy glass door was released on her, and who is now staying with her son and his family until it's safe for her to be on her own again
<votive> For all in need
On a more cheerful note my friend K is making her final profession as a religious sister this afternoon and I'm on the train at the moment on the way there. Prayers for her please in this important step in her life.
My aunt, who has no diagnosis, but has recently shown some signs of dementia, has gone AWOL this afternoon. Her family have been searching for her and are now reporting her missing to the police.
Prayers please, I have
Idiopathic peripheral neuropathy which seems to happen for no particular reason. I was doing really well for the last 18months and yesterday it reared its ugly head and I am having a lot of leg pain, and can hardly walk even with a cane, So I am feeling grumpy and sorry for myself. May this be a VERY short episode please Lord, I do not have time just now for this
giving thanks too, as my kid has finished his Eagle Scout paperwork and there is nothing left to do but the Board of Review interview. Thanks be to God!
As is her wont on a Bank Holiday weekend, the Dowager has thrown a wobbly and been taken to hospital. There's nothing immediately life-threatening, but the hospital doctor tells me that her GP is making noises about moving to palliative care - the poor Dowager is almost 95 and lurches from one infection to the next while her confusion and dementia go into a downward spiral.
Please pray for thoughtful and considered decision-making on all our parts...
Asking for prayers as South Africa goes to national election polls tomorrow. May the elections be peaceful and fair and resolve some of the difficulties around unemployment, poverty and crime here.
Reports of the Dowager's imminent decease move to palliative care appear to be exaggerated - the supervisory nurse at the care home says she is miles away from that. Confused, difficult, restless, inappropriate - nothing worse.
Giving thanks with Mrs S. Praying with Marylouise. Asking prayers for the island of Mull which lost one of its scarce clergy in a mountain accident yesterday. He has been minister for the north of the island for about a decade and the shock will be great.

So you are not alone in doing this.
