[pedantic tangent] I believe the OP envisioned variations on "Roses are Red" that weren't all that, erm, nice. If we can't post comments faithful to the OP, then what's the point of keeping the thread open? [/pedantic tangent]

Violets are purple
Roses are red
OP's have never
Dictated a thread

Which makes me the OP'er I guess, what an inspiration!
Glads may be yellow
so is my pee
naughty, nice, rude
these poems may all be
It seems to me that the purpose of this thread was amusing "anti-Valentines", and as it's now nearly three months since 14th February, maybe it's time to put it to bed until next year.
Roses are red
Violets are some other colour on the spectrum
It's good to see
The quality of poetry has remained unchanged.
Roses are red and violets are blue
But sometimes it's quite hard to do
To make sure the rhymes
Are right at all times
And the scansion and rhythm is too.
Comments
Roses are red
Spring, Summer, or Fall
If you can't say aught nice
Say nothing at all
Roses romantic
Who else is feeling
Like being pedantic?
Dandelions eaten.
Old Miss Amanda
Knows when she's beaten!
And grow where they will
The OP can morph
Rest easy and chill!
Violets are purple
Roses are red
OP's have never

Stilton is blue,
Cheddar is gorgeous
And Gloucester is too.
And Gloucester is too.
Green is the oak
I get the feeling
I'm missing the joke.
Which makes me the OP'er I guess, what an inspiration!
Glads may be yellow
so is my pee
naughty, nice, rude
these poems may all be
And so should be pee,
But if you eat beetroot,
Red it will be.
You may think it hilarious
But what will it be
After eating asparagus?
Hostly Oink

Thanks for all your amusing verses!

Piglet, Circus host
Piglet,
Circus host
Piglets our host
One of these
We love the most...
Violets are blue,
A poor stubbed toe
Turns rainbow hue
Violets aren't grey,
Piglet's restored the thread,
Hip, hip, hooray.
And thrive in the rain.
Delighted to see
This thread open again.
Violets for me
Glad the thread's open
Amusing you and me
Few seem to be black,
We're all very glad
This thread's not got the sack.
And roses are red
I'm glad to be posting
Here on this thread.
Violets are blue,
And I'm another
Rejoicing with you.
Violets are some other colour on the spectrum
It's good to see

Roses are red and violets are blue
But sometimes it's quite hard to do
To make sure the rhymes

And the scansion and rhythm is too.
Violets are blue
Piglet is Beautiful
But then I am too
The sea, so blue
Grass is growing
Mosquitoes too.
Squashed flies are red too
At least when they're dead
They can't annoy you.
My flies squash black too
My monochrome world
Must be boring to you.
(Seriously, your mossies squash red? They have blood?)
Now back to poetry (?).
Yellow squish guppies
If you want to squish red
You'd better use puppies.
You've never seen me in Real Life, have you?
Roses are red
Piglets* are cute
I once played the piano
And also the flute
* actual piglets, not this one!
Piglets are tasty
With crackling and apples
And lashings of gravy
"Tasty" doesn't rhyme with "gravy" ...
But at least you were described as "tasty"!
Let's move on to Hell
Do you think that Doc Tor
Will roast nearly as well?
Take care in hell.
If not, beware, he may
Ring your bell
Peppers are spicy
Eating your hosties
Is not very nicey.
OH NO IT ISN'T.

That roses are red
Must daily call in to see

Violets are blue
Happy Mother's Day
To you!
No violets around
Frost in the air
Frozen's the ground
(a late spring)
But I've been blue
One leg won't work
And I broke leg two.
Other flowers various.
It seems this thread's taken
A turn for the serious.
In Spring trees sprout leaves,
Oak, beech or larch.
Mother's Day here
Was 31st March.
Turn to the serious
Is that roses are red
But the posters delirious.
So says my momma
I hope you know
You're minus one comma.
Oops, said she,
With an embarrassed look,
"Apostrophe"
Is the missing hook.
Roses are red
Peonies frilly.
Hope you soon
Feel better, Lily.
Some light; some deep.
The cast comes off
In five more sleeps!
Narcissus white.
Your leg will feel
Extra light.
