    Leaving us in the dark about the reasons the woman gave for clapping the sermon is a bit of a tease, Pippa.....

    I have occasionally (very) felt like clapping after a sermon - and have always restrained myself. There havealso been occasions when I have wanted to pointedly walk out, too. Again, I did not act on my impulse - though on the latter occasions I did give forthright feedback to the clergy as they stood at the door to bid us goodbye, presumably expcting praise for their words.
