Praying for Rossweisse, for Lamb Chopped, for @Alex Cockell the Beakys, D.s Mum and others on the black dog thread. For the warmth of God's love to hold us all close.

Continuing to hold all in prayer.

We have a day of 'intermittent fasting' and a long prayer vigil, so taking all those mentioned here into contemplative and collective prayer.

    For all in need.
  • N, my friend with Alheimers and dementia has taken another slide downhill. I speak to him everyday on the phone. Today I was told four separate answers as to why work was being done on pipes in his street. All were definitive to him. I was just about to hang up when he told me all the electricity had been stolen from his house. He had two lights on , but there was not enough electricity in the house to turn TV on.
  • Penny SPenny S Shipmate
For D, in hospital again, not eating or drinking enough, and receiving a blood transfusion for anaemia, hypothermic. Her son is now expecting a call to tell him she has gone at any time, so is on edge all the time, even when asleep.
  • Prayers for Lothlorien's friend N and Penny's friend D, and for D's son.
  • Mr Lamb has come home agitated as he has talked with his niece in Calif. and she said (somewhat off-handedly) that her Dad is talking nonsense--in a way that makes it unclear whether she's just peeved at him (or something) or whether he's the fourth of the five siblings to develop dementia. The father/brother is not returning calls. Mr. Lamb has gone off into the garden to pull weeds and brood that his turn is coming next. He refuses to try to find out from anybody else whether this is an actual diagnosis or the Beginning.Of.The.End for both brother and Mr. Lamb himself. And is calculating how many years before he himself inevitably succumbs to dementia (he makes it five).

Dear God, this is all too much.
  • (((LC)))
  • That is hard, LC , very hard. Prayers.

Oh, @Lamb Chopped! That's extremely hard for all members of your clan. Industrial-strength prayers ascending for all of you.

<votive> Praying through, for all, by name

My dear friend (and "other mother") P fell the other day, cracking her sacrum (ouch!) and tearing a ligament in her pelvic floor (double ouch!). She is 96, and completely sharp mentally, but having problems physically. Your prayers for her healing would be greatly appreciated.

Prayers ascending from over here too.
  • (((Lamb Chopped))) and (((Mr Lamb))) for this difficult situation. Prayers too.

And prayers for Ross's poor friend P after her fall.

Husbands who have decided they will die are a problem. Mr Cats last year would not come to SA to visit our daughter because he was convinced he would die on a long-haul flight - he had a friend who died shortly after one. Took a long time to convince him, and he didn't make that trip. (He is a very healthy 65 who walks miles daily.)

Prayers for @Lamb Chopped and the others on this thread.

    For Loth's N 🕯

For Penny, D and her son 🕯

For all in need -- I have some kind of coding problem here, unable to post further.
  • If you would pray for Mum she had a fall overnight and is in the coronary care unit. As she is 90 frail and with severe dementia, I would ask that she feels safe and has a good death when the time comes.
  • I will pray for all of those things Jengie. It must be a tough time for you as well, so prayers for you too.

Coronary Care Unit wants to fit Mum with a Pace Maker on Friday and she will be back to her Nursing Home on Saturday if everything goes well. I am taking Dad to see Mum tomorrow.

I am traveling tomorrow, flying alone with my wheelchair for the first time. (At least both flights, from here and from there, are nonstops.) It's a little nervous-making; I could use some traveling mercies.

Jengie Jon - wishing you and your family well... you, your mom, and your dad....

Ross - hope very much that your first solo trip goes well. I had a neighbour whose job was helping people in wheelchairs on and off planes at Stansted Airport...and the process seemed pretty seamless. The only thing that made any difference to him was how nice or rude his clients were. (Regrettably, judging by another thread here you won't be able to be nice to your assistant, because Christians aren't supposed to be nice. :grimace: )

Prayers for all of us in need.
  • I'm really fed up and don't know what to do.

    1) Last September I had a heart attack, out of the blue. 5 stents, and 3 months off work.

    2) In January, as I was easing back into work, I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. The treatment would normally include surgery, but can't as my heart isn't strong enough. Off work again.

    3) In April I began a fairly intensive course of radio and chemotherapy. As this was getting going, my mum's mild Alzheimer's got a lot worse. She's now in a home near me and I'm in the process of selling her house. In a few months she's gone from living by herself to needing constant care; she is often begging for help and no one knows what to do. And she used to be such a capable, independent person.

Of all of these, it's 3) which is getting me down most, and testing my faith. Where is the peace of God for my mum? After years of faithful service, why is she suffering like this?
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Crikey, RA, you really are going through it! I wish I could provide answers, but be assured that you and your mum are in my prayers.
  • Robert Armin - What a parade of bad fortune has blighted your life in recent years....

My stepmom has Alzheimer's. I can well understand how seeing this at close quarters is testing your faith. For what it's worth, I try hard to understand God in a way that makes sense of the sometimes terrible things that happen in the world. (For me that is a belief that life could only be brought into being according to what we understand as scientific laws - and those laws include all sorts of horrible things that can happen to sentient beings....) Things like Alzheimer's are particularly challenging.

My prayers go out to you and your mother....

Baby Beaky is flourishing and has regained his birth weight.
Little Beaky is still in so much pain and distress. They had a whole day at the hospital with him yesterday with consultants trying to figure out a way forward so your continued prayers are greatly appreciated.
    My prayers for us all
  • Just to say Mum was back on the ward by the time we got there and although very sleepy otherwise seemed to be doing fine. Not sure whether this is good bad or indifferent news.
  • Prayers for Little Beaky, for all of you, and for the doctors and nurses trying to help him.
    Prayers for Jengie Jon's mom.

Glad to hear that Baby Beaky is doing well.
  • For everyone attempting to fly in or out of London today. Esp my dear friend N, who could do without all this uncertainty.
