  • The American president has a spiritual advisor. Who knew? And does anyone have the slightest clue what her and trumpski's religion is?

Don't know about Trump's religion (self-worship?) but White is apparently using a bunch of "Spiritual Warfare" tropes. This twitter thread has a brief explanation and links to more in-depth information.
  • Yes, I did wonder if perhaps PW wasn't being entirely original.

I still maintain that she is an avatar for Something Eldritch, and Unspeakably Awful, but I probably read (present tense) too much H P Lovecraft, and others of that genre.

As for Trump, you simply couldn't make him up, IYSWIM.

What I want to know is where one goes to buy a satanic pregnancy test strip. I'm guessing the corner drug store doesn't carry these . . .
  • It's a devil of a job to know where to start.

I wonder how they'd get him to do a paternity test ... :naughty:

(I wish we still had that sniggering devil emoji!)
  • It wouldn't work, anyway, given that he's the Father of Lies.
  • Holy fucking shit. The "peace plan" involves giving one side of the conflict everything they want and taking things away from those who already have very little.

He is a fucking liability. Does nobody in the White House realise what people do when they have exactly nothing to lose or hope for any more?

He is literally saying that he is "doubling" Palestinian territory whilst simultaneously taking land away from them.

He achieves this magic by unilaterally declaring land in the Jordan valley is now Israel and promising to replace it with desert near Gaza.

Yeah, that's a fucking brilliant deal, you utter swamp-monkey.
  • Other than an insult to swamp monkeys, which wikipedia describes in sympathetic ways, including being a household pet - doubtful anyone wants a trumpski as a pet in their home. You'd need a cage for a trump. Are they house trained? Will a trump try to grope the cat?

Re the news story about the "deal of the century" in Palestine/Israel, the minimum expectable is that there would have been involvement of both of the parties: Israelis and Palestinians. This is an imposed plan isn't it?

Hmmm. That reminds me of the "tax break" he gave us. Every single person of my acquaintance who had to pay taxes, paid much more than the slight benefit that some of them had in their regular paychecks.

The man is evil, evil, evil. I hope he ends up rotting under some prison somewhere. Maybe under a Palestinian desert prison.

The truth is not in Donald Trump. Actually, the man is completely amoral. In terms of Israel, he wants to make his daughter and son-in-law happy, and cares nothing for human rights. He is, in fact, "evil, evil, evil," and I don't understand how anyone who claims to be a Christian can support hin.

    Respect!
  • Assaults upon the English language are the least of his sins. YMMV.
  • Well, quite - but I suspect Mr Kermode was being Ironic...to some effect, IMHO.

    Or just Truthful?
  • How can this be a deal anyway? a deal is an agreement between two parties, which this isn't - unless he means a deal between himself and Netanyahu.

I think it’s a brilliant and ironic/sarcastic reflection on the human condition. We notice (and are annoyed by) the small flaws rather than the enormous ones.

It’s also a good summing up of tRump’s CV.

It's a bit like my next-door neighbor and me making a "deal" to sell our across-the-street neighbor's house (and pocketing the money for ourselves, of course).

    So it is.

  • I wonder what will be his first act on being acquitted tomorrow.

Yeah, I know it will be to tweet.. I mean who will he insult first?

"A woman who accused President Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her decades ago is asking him for a DNA sample to compare to male genetic material found on the dress she says she wore during the alleged encounter."

*Encounter* should be *rape* in the above quote.
  • I can't believe she wore the dress again for a photoshoot.
    :anguished:

  • The unbelievability is beyond belief isn't it. How many spermed dresses does it take to start a museum exhibit?

Sperm on a dress does not prove the sex was non-consensual. Just that the sexual activity was messy. And it proves there was something sexual going on which was important in Clinton's perjury indictment.

ETA: ...and would prove that Trump had indeed, met this woman in his life.
  • ... though of all the places to theoretically pick, a public dressing room?
  • Oh, *that* one. Well, rules don't apply to him, per him.
    :(
  • I mean the suggestion it was consensual. We know what he is, but the odds of her being ,,, similar... are so unlikely that only an asshat would believe it.

Though there are a remarkably large number of asshats around lately.
  • Whose hats are they, anyway? Can they be returned to the owner(s)?

Trump is the worst president the US has ever had, he is a joke albeit a very bad one.
  • If there is a god, this year will see Trump consigned to the dustbin of history, where he belongs.
  • I wonder how I would feel if my fantasy of Trump having a Sharon-style stroke came true? Although Sharon was unconscious for years... my fantasy involves locked in syndrome.

I wonder if I would celebrate.

I didn't predict or celebrate Thatcher's dementia, but I certainly danced on her grave, metaphorically. I did also enjoy the dementia scenes in that hagiography with Meryl Streep.

So I think I probably would celebrate an incapacitating stroke.

    .
  • Well, perhaps. But always remember that one day - and probably sooner than later, given his age - Trump will simply DIE.

His soul (should he possess such an appendage) will then be required of him. What account will he give to the One who requires it of him?

I think he may have a free pass for the other place already.
  • He’s very fat which increases the possibility of a stroke.

O spare a thought for poor Satan, and the denizens of Hell! What have they done to deserve Trump ?

Spawned him in the first place, perhaps?

Oh he'd fit right in, adopting the position of bully turned sycophant in the face of Satan's bigly power. He's smart, a very stable genius, and the smart move, apparently, is to unwaveringly pursue your own interests, no matter the cost to others.

Do they award them for Sheer Ghastliness, or something?

The irony is that it was an undeserved honour. Whatever you think about Obama, giving him an award before he became President was a silly thing to do.
  • That would have been very odd - but the award was announced on October 9, 2009, at which point Obama had been President for about 9 months.
  • For some very strange reason a questionnaire appeared in my E-mail prior to Trump's state of the union address asking me how thrilled I was with a list of his accomplishments and requested my ratings. They included his tax cuts, bringing jobs back to US, repair of highways and bridges, keeping us safe from terrorists, letting in as citizens only highly qualified people, the wall, and such. I answered them all. Each also had room to add your own comments. So I did. WHAT FUN. I did not send him any money as per their request.
  • You know, though, that they've confirmed that's a working email address with an engaged human at the end of it. Prepare to be spammed.
  • I have a junk e mail address and a regular e mail so it was worth it on the junk one. I do all ordering and such on it. This is where I get all spam.
  • Great idea!
  • The thing about Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize is that it was the Norwegian parliament, on presumed behalf of the rest of the world, sending Obama a thank you note for ending the nightmare of the GWB years. The current state of affairs is such a nightmarish political grand guignol that we are now nostalgic for GWB. If Trump is defeated in November, what thank you gift would be suitable for the victor? How do you do one better than a NPP?
  • What would probably annoy Trump the most is if the person who is elected gets to be Time Magazine's Person of the Year. That seems to be a bigger deal to him than a Nobel Prize.

Thank you for the correction; I felt sure he was given the honour after he'd been elected but before he took office. Obviously senility is galloping through my mind, but was Obama given some other major award in that time frame?

Giving it out early? (and being explicit about the justification)
Either via a special meeting, on day 1
Just for being the candidate... (regardless of success)
To "the next ... president of the USA (not trump)" which would probably put paid to direct dynestying as well [although 'clever' prizes are more Time than Nobel]

Not that I recall - though the Nobel award was widely criticized at the time as being undeserved.
