  • Retable is more common, but retablo is also used. I believe that they're used interchangeably with reredos.
  • My understanding is that retable and reredos technically have very similar but slightly different meanings: A retable rises from the altar or from a shelf behind the altar and is attached to the altar, while a reredos rises from the floor and is generally not attached. “Altarpiece” applies to either, as can the Spanish retablo.
