Making plans for Easter eats.

I will be eating alone. Do not have the energy for company this year. I am planing on salmon, fresh green beans, wild rice, a beet pickled egg, and jello. The only time I eat jello is Easter, as my mother always made a jello mold for Easter in the shape of an egg, so although I am not really all that fond of jello, it just in part of Easter for me. A chocolate egg for dessert. What wll be on your table?

Not sure yet what will be on our table. We’ve been invited to have dinner with a niece and her family. We’ll ask what we can bring.

But I had been thinking yesterday there was little point in me making hot cross buns this year, thinking I might be the only one who’d eat them. But now that we’re eating with them and other family who’ll gather there, I’ll plan to bake and take hot cross buns.

As a parish musician, by the time Easter afternoon rolls around, I'm really tired. Wednesday Choir rehearsal, Holy Thursday Foot Washing and More, Good Friday, an ample Great Vigil on Saturday, and two full choral Masses on Sunday. I'm sure there will be a family meal at one of my in-laws' houses, though whether a lunch or dinner is yet TBD. We usually make a black cherry jello salad with a baked pretzel crust.

A better thread for me would be "Making plans for Easter naps."

I’m not expecting to be invited anywhere on Easter day and as I will be going away for a few days from Easter Monday I will be clearing up whatever is in the fridge, not leaving any leftovers behind. So probably a lamb steak plus whatever veg.

Chicken with Ms. C and our two sons.

Very non-traditional for me - I'll be at EasterCon, and I understand they've arranged food vans, one of which will be serving souvlaki (I love Greek food).

Baked ham*, mashed potatoes, green vegetable not otherwise specified**, salad, devilled eggs, carrot cake. Pretty simple menu this year.

*when served at Easter, it's referred to as "the gaadaamn haam" in my family, though everyone likes it. Asking if you've ordered the gaadaamn haam yet is very specific.

** we'll see what looks good for veg, as shipping fresh veg at this time of year is still uncertain, so one cannot plan firmly on one kind or another being available/decent. Also true for salad ingredients.

We don't go so much for a special Easter meal; on the other hand, hot cross buns are essential to Good Friday (and not having had any until then, all the more enjoyed). Younger leveret now makes his own too, and he and his mother will swap WhatsApp pics to encourage each other, Simnel cake appears on Easter Day, so all in all Easter is as least as much enjoyed in the Hare house food-wise as Christmas.
  • I am assuming that we will be with Elder Son & family on Easter Day. Not actually been invited so far, but we were told a couple of years ago that all family celebrations included us.
I don't like to take it for granted, so will have a 'ready meal' (of decent quality) in for Easter Monday which will move to Sunday if we find we are not expected.
