    I have to admit I was one of those announcers at my home church. After a while I realized it was holding the congregation hostage. I finally quit. Now we try to keep it to three quick announcements very quickly at the beginning of the service.

    It is a tough balance I am sure.

    Printing or projecting may be the go, with a few key announcements spoken. I know I have visited, and been a member of, churches that suffer the need to announce everything.
