@Graven Image that worked with the other carriers I've had, but this one is a different shape more square with a hinged top. Wghen I bought it I thought it would be easier - it's not.

I feel awful. Last time the vet (a different one from last time) said she was too heavy. I've been carefully weighing her food at the recommended amount every day and she has lost weight. I now have to feed her 30 gm twice daily instead of 24gm.

They didn't suggest it, but I'm planning to take her back in 3 months time to be weighed by a vet nurse as I'm concerned that the weight loss could be due to something other than underfeeding.
  • I am afraid Molly is still refusing any walk but her morning one. I have read I should not be rubbing her and offering comfort, which is what I have been doing when she runs back to the door. I have read in two places not to respond to her fear, but act in a disinterested, calm manner as though everything is just fine. I have done that twice, let her in the house and said I am going for a walk. I then leave the house and take a short stroll. It has only been twice, but I hope it helps.
  • It worked. Yesterday, there was no comfort, and I walked without her. Today, when I picked up her leash to put it on, she refused to come. When I put it back and said, I am going for a walk and went to the door, she ran over. We had a short, successful walk. Fingers crossed, we have resolved the issue. I do note the wind was not blowing.

Cassie, the elder of our two cats, has a urine infection. I had forgotten how very much harder this is to manage with two cats than one. Separate litter trays (Cassie has to pee in a tray containing a substance called Catrine, from which the vet can extract a urine sample) and separate food, as Cassie’s is laced with a strong antibiotic which she urgently needs to consume but Lyra isn’t supposed to have. At the moment I’m sitting in the spare bedroom with Cassie and her stuff, as she’s bored and uncomfortable, and Lyra is occasionally yelling outside the door as she’s not used to being separated from her mum.
  • Molly and I were up at four A.M. last night, and thankfully, my neighbor slept through the whole thing. There was an opossum on our back patio. There was a lot of very loud barking, and the human yelling," Come." This went on for a good five minutes. No animal was harmed in this exchange. The opossum just sat on the fence, looking bored with it all. Mrs Image will be sure to close the dog door tonight.
  • Today we are now off daylight saving time. The dog is not pleased. Her breakfast is late, as is her walk, and soon her dinner. It is going to be a long week ahead.
  • I was fearing a very early morning with the cats, but they seemed to reconcile themselves to getting breakfast two hours later than usual - an hour for the time change and another hour because it’s Sunday… then to add insult to injury I got busy with something else and they didn’t get dinner until about half-an-hour past their usual time - 90 minutes with the time change.
  • Sounds like they coped well @Marsupial, that or they are off plotting in some corner together!!

Cats at our place have been going well. Changed the food (size of kibble) and our older cat seems to be less sicky than usual. We've been a bit slack in taking them out on their leads, but maybe a bit later today, or tomorrow. In trying to beat the high UV part of the day I've been gardening when they normally have their walk. I might have to initiate a new daylight saving routine!!

This is one reason we have an automatic feeder. They are wonderful things!
