You have a Wikipedia page. From there, get to Hitler in as few clicks as possible.
E.g.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog
Two Clicks - Germanic -> Germany. And there he is.
Lowest scores are the best, naturally.
Don't forget to nominate the next Wikipage

Gazebo —>
Algiers —>
World War II (where one finds, unsurprisingly, Hitler)
(two clicks)
Next starter wikipage:
Penguin
Clicking links in the Wikipedia page. On the Frogs article there is a link to Germanic languages.
Slightly different premise. There, you click on the first hyperlink on each page, and see how long it takes you to get to "Philosophy". Here, YOU choose the hyperlinks to click, based on which ones you think will lead most quickly to "Hitler".
Northern Hemisphere -->
Germany --> (where one finds the target)
I have a feeling the answer is always two clicks. This is worth testing.
Next starting point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberaeron
"Seccond World War" in the History section.
Hellenistic World -->
Mediterranean History -->
Second World War etc
Pi -->
Issac Newton -->
Voltaire -->
etc etc...
But I got a stuck on A Midsummer Night's Dream, which I assumed would mention the film version we saw in high-school featuring Hill as Bottom, but doesn't.
Liebniz
Nuremberg
Nazi Germany
Hitler
That was rather more clicks than I'd hoped for; when I got Leibniz, I reckoned it would be one more click to Germany, but they listed everywhere in Germany where Leibniz had been, but not Germany itself. Possibly because in his day it wasn't called Germany ...
Next starter:
Bohemian Rhapsody
Faust
Staufen
Germany
And there he is.
Let's try https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saladin
Palestine
Holocaust
And there he is.
How about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranus
He's mentioned in the Göttingen article, but not linked.
Go on then: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump
Germany (inter alia)
And there he is.
How about John Keats
Liverpool (and Hitler is named on that page !)
Koro (possibly nsfw)
Europe
Germany
And there he is
Van Diemen's Land
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massive_compact_halo_object
> Melbourne
> World War II
And there he is
Quartz
Simon & Schuster
Catch-22
World War II - and there he is.
Quartz
Warsaw
Hitler
new start
Uvas Canyon County Park
Hiking
Leipzig
Nazi - and there he is
Boomerang
Boomerang
Germany (the flags in the records tables are links)
Hitler
I think we have a double competition between who can come up with an article (with a reasonable number of links) that takes the longest list and who can come up with the shortest list for a given starting point.
Babadağ (mountain, Muğla)
Turkey
Germany > Hitler
This seems rather too easy
Chicxulub crater
US Air Force
WW2
Bagpuss
Pipe organ
Halberstadt
Hitler
How about a spider: Hadronyche Flindersi
World War II
- and there he is
Birefringence
Count Buffon
Paris
Paris In World War II
Which I assume gets you to World War II etc.
In The Death And Life Of American Cities, Jane Jacobs mentions playing a degrees-of-separation game with a friend as a teenager, and that they quit after realizing that Eleanor Roosevelt can pretty much connect you to any prominent person.
I just looked out the window of this store and saw a sign for Money Mart, a Canadian payday lender, so I'll take that as my starting point. Back in a bit.
Canada ->
Anne Of Green Gables ->
Anne Of Avonlea ->
BBC ->
board of governors
And there sits Marmaduke Hussey
Clorox ->
Brita (German-founded subsidiary) ->
UK (Brita is sold there) ->
BBC ->
And etc.
Persuant to my earlier comment, I think countries are basically the Eleanor Roosevelt of this game.
UK -> BBC -> etc.
@stetson is on to something with the role of countries in this game.
If you start with "Synechdoche", "Prime Minister Of The United Kingdom" is mentioned in the first paragraph.
And there's a standalone link to "United Kingdom" lower down.
Oh - I think I misunderstood @Doublethink. She was trying to get us to go to Synecdoche, rather than get from it. I think this is basically a model of a UUCP bang path - you advertise the route to your obscure little corner (in this case, Synecdoche) from several well-known hub points, other people know how to get to one of those hubs from their own obscure corner, and so you're able to exchange email.
I don’t think a game like this really works if you use that tactic.
coffee ->
Yemen ->
Flag of Yemen->
national flag ->
logo ->
symbol ->
semiotics ->
metonym ->
And there ya got "synechdoche".
A suitably long and winding road, but you can probably guess where Mrs. Roosevelt steps in.
history of coffee
Constantinople
Byzantium
Synecdoche
Anyone get it shorter?
Nicely done. And no shortcut through countries.
Was the Byzantium to Synechdoche connection the Yeats poem Sailing To Byzantium?
Thanks.
