That said, it's sometimes interesting (if you've nothing else better to do!) to check up on the relevant church, to see if they're still going...an exercise which may require some Googling, as many old websites have Ceased To Be.
There have been one or two old Reports recently on churches which have apparently been moribund, or about to close, but which have received new leases of life.
Apropos St Mark's, the use of the spelling *draft* to describe an unwelcome blast of cold air makes me wonder if, indeed, the MWer was not English (or Welsh!).
It'd be like saying 'the pastor wore jeans' or 'pink pumps' and this hindered my connecting with Christ.
I can understand objections to vestments on theological grounds but not how their usage in and of itself somehow diminishes our ability to 'connect with Christ' in a church service.
It's not a question of re-publishing. Reports from 2005 on were ported over from the old Ship and are discoverable via search. Someone must have searched for it, found it, and went to file a comment but the comment never "took." I understand that if someone who is not registered files a comment, it appears to "take" but in reality doesn't.
It is true that when comments are filed on reports ported over from the old Ship, the photo is always wrong. This software bug has been fixed several times, but every time the software is updated the bug reasserts itself. When I was MW editor, I used to fix the photo in comments on old reports as necessary, but I am no longer MW editor and apparently comments on old reports are not being monitored as they were previously.
I was pleased to see that there have been quite a bit of new reports filed recently. I hope the trend continues.
Thank you, Miss Amanda - ISWYM.
It was reading the MW reports that brought me to the Ship way back. I enjoyed them then and still do. Pleased to see the report on Newcastle Cathedral. I did some work from time to time at Newcastle and would call in there before tackling the drive home. A former Dean there had a bit of a link to St Sanity.
