    I hope they dont try to move the Becher monument for its slavery associations. If they are disconcerted by it (as I imagine they must be) the solution is surely to put up a notice telling the rest of the story—that is to say, the details not included in the hagiographic inscription on the monument. But not to try and erase the history. It has much too much to teach us.

    I note that the monument is to a daughter of the Becher family, but I take your point. An explanatory notice - if there isn't one in situ already - would seem to be appropriate.

    An interesting MW Report on a church not too far from where I live, but in the next Diocese.
