Reading and praying through the thread. For H. For D. For Little Beaky. For all in hospital and all who care for them. For jedijudy's cousin. For Annie. For healing, peace, light, and hope.

    Thank you Amos.
We're just back from a day with Huxley/ Little Beaky and his brothers. Prayers are very much appreciated as they navigate their way through all the challenges with his health and care needs and the ups and downs of normal family life. Huxley continues to have unresolved difficulties with both his respiratory and digestive systems.
Our daughter is trying to arrange a MDT meeting (so far no joy) as he really is suffering so thank you everyone for your prayers.
My brother is home again on meds. Thanks for praying.

Please pray for the soul of JA, a flying colleague of long standing who died yesterday after a long brave battle with illness. He will be greatly mourned by us old geezers. He was a considerable presence in our club, enthusiastic, educated, erudite and a talented craftsman.
We shared many interests and passions. His death has hit me quite hard given my own health and heart problems.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

Prayers for my diabetic healing (new doctor, new meds) and for Sim’s job interview today, please.

Please pray for a possible new relationship, which may or may not just be a friendship but I don’t know and I’ve not thought about ever having another partner again so I’m wrestling with this, to go well, whatever it becomes.

Our dear friend D is bringing his husband A to our eucharist service today for the first time. Please pray A meets with the Holy Spirit!

Prayers for all that need our prayers. @ChastMastr for wisdom and courage as he explores the possibilities of a new relationship, @RockyRoger 's A that he is open to the workings of the holy spirit and @Merry Vole 's D that they are comforted.
I could do with prayers to be more patient and kinder.

  • I've got a meeting on the 24th with my old nemesis, the one who became my great-grandboss at the beginning of this year? It's billed as a "getting to know you" meeting between her and my work-group. We are also expected to, uh, ask deeply trusting questions about some recent company decisions that a lot of people had trouble with (we're told it will be anonymous, and I'm sure the organizer intends that to be true, but still).

I don't know how many people will be in the meeting, or how many of them are aware of our past history together--but it's likely at least the organizer will be (besides her and me, I mean). Which means that my every word and action will be under scrutiny. The organizer likes me, but he is also singing her praises to the skies. I can't avoid the meeting in any way, and I really don't want to fuck this up. Please pray?

This is going to be vague but any spare prayers appreciated. Life is just a bit tough currently. I have it better than many, but a few things are a bit overwhelming. Thanks.

Can I ask for prayers for a friend, T, who is struggling with her health and also trying to get care support for her mother.
  • TelepathTelepath Shipmate
Hey everyone. Long time no see.

I need urgent prayers for the Telemum please. She had a fall last Thursday but was uninjured. She has been stuck in hospital ever since. Her discharge keeps being delayed, but the clinical reasons for this aren't clear to us; she isn't receiving any treatment, she's just being kept there.

She now wants to self-discharge, and finally a staff member called me, and I asked them why she was being kept in. They said it's because she is confused.

I totally disagree with the idea that she is confused, so does she, and so does the carer who comes to wash her twice a week. I am going to go there in about an hour to bring her her phone and affirm that she isn't confused. The carer in question is going to join us shortly afterwards and back me up on this.

This is quite a dangerous corner here, so I'd appreciate prayers.

    ==========

    More details for the curious/skeptical:

Over the weekend she was being kept because a second chest x-ray had to be done, and then interpreted by a doctor, and doctors are unavailable on weekends.

Yesterday the hospital social worker rang to arrange her discharge, and two hours later she told me she wasn't being discharged. Apparently there was a kidney scan that needed to be interpreted by a doctor.

Today the physiotherapists got her to get up and walk around using a walker, which she did. Still no sign of her being discharged.

I looked into the pros and cons of self-discharge and put them to her when I talked to her on the phone just now. She decided she wants to self-discharge, and said so to the staff.

She also said she was constipated this morning and thought this was a reason why she was being prevented from going home. I don't know if that's actually part of the rationale, but she made an extra effort to poop.

Yeah and now they're saying she's confused. In the first place, that's false; in the second place, if she were, that still wouldn't be a reason to keep her in; in the third place, they'd have to do better than that to declare her lacking in mental capacity. However, she has to have capacity in order to self-discharge.

This situation does not make sense and is becoming quite dangerous for her.

OK, well, they haven't actually mistaken her for being confused, so there's that.

They're keeping her in because she's being referred to 1) breast surgery 2) urology and 3) occupational therapy for a "package of care".

1 sounds scary, but she last had her chest x-rayed two months ago, so whatever it is, it hasn't been there long.

2 she's needed all her life, and been asking for for some time recently, so that's good.

3 is also good, since all we've had so far is people coming round and agonizing over whether or not to get her a walking frame. Then they either promise it and don't bring it, or decide it's redundant.

What we don't want is for her to get into a situation where she can't live at home any more. That's to be avoided at all costs.

Also, the local council website talks about eligibility for reverse mortgages to pay for whatever it is they provide, which is unclear. We're not doing that either.

Also, I'm apparently TAH here for not going in to talk to the doctors in person. Even though there are no doctors over the weekend, and yesterday I was instructed to stay home and wait for the Telemum to be discharged. I've been here before.

  • Thank you! It went far better than I had any reason to expect--primarily because my greatest protector down there (who is aware of the past) came along as an unannounced guest, and in fact ran the greater part of the meeting. I had no idea he would be there, and I'm so grateful. Thank you, Lord, and thank you for praying for me.

So pleased for LC and the Lord's provision. Wow! Could I ask for my meeting with the cardio team tomorrow. Given my very distressing symptoms I fear yet more surgery is needed. O worse. B*gg*r! Is this goodbye? Mrs RR worried.
But LC's experience gives me courage to believe that 'all is well and all shall be well' whatever the outcome. PLT!

For my daughter: please pray that her adulterous husband will not be able to bully her and move her and her cats out of the family home That she will get the necessary legal advice and support from dear friends, return to the church family, and take control of the situation. Or, rather, hear from Our Dear Lord and let Him take control of the whole mess. For S, her close friend, who seems both sensible and loving.
Talk about things stacking up .... 'Count it all joy ......'

An update on Sammy. As I had mentioned in my previous thread on him, he had developed RSV. Nearly killed him. As he was recovering, his other grandmother, who is a retired nurse noticed his right leg seemed unusually tender. After some tests, it was thought he had hip dysplasia, where the hip was not connected properly. More tests were ordered. Initial Xrays suggested there was no ball on the femur--at least it was not evident. Sammy went through an MRI a week ago. The results, quite discouraging. From what they can determine now, the RSV virus likely attacked the ball of the femur, causing it to disintegrate. Now it looks like they will have to replace the ball, and will have to have a series of surgeries through his growing years to put in a new ball every so often. His leg will also likely be shorter than his other leg, so they will have to lengthen it over time too.

He is being treated through Seattle Children's Hospital, one of the premier hospitals in the nation. His orthopedic surgeon is the top of his field; the doctor is consulting other specialists about treatment plans.

Needless to say, this news is a blow to his parents and the rest of the extended family too. We are all processing this.

If there is one thing going for Sammy, it is his personality. He is such a happy baby. There is always a gleam in his eye. I will hope he can continue to be positive given the road ahead.

    Life goes on.
