A small, and perhaps strange request tonight from me: after a long and wonderful day hiking in the mountains (thanks be to God!), I suddenly realised on a train back that I had lost my hi-tech waterproof trousers which I had affixed to my backpack, but which must have slipped off. - I only could afford to buy these because they were on special sale, and have been very happy with them.

I'm checking with the railways, as it's likely to have happened there.

Sorry for this very silly thing. Thank you.

Prayers for all in need, those who post, and those you don't dare to.

A nasty complaint. Prayers. How is your grandson with kidney problems? I was thinking of him last night.

He definitely has to have a transplant. Both parents have the right blood type, but the tissue typing is still to be done. The problem is that he is being treated at Children's Hospital, but the testing of his parents has to be done at a hospital that treats adults. One of the nurses in the kidney unit at Children's said that parents have to be "really pushy" to get the adult hospital to hurry up.

  • Thank you for the update, Moo. Officialdom can be hard to cope with.

Prayers ascending for all in need, especially Moo and her grandson, Piers and Ross.
  • For Piers.

    For Moo and her grandson.

For the return of Wesley’s techno-trousers.

For Charlie and family, Lord have mercy.

For Ross, how frustrating and distressing. Praying.

Okay the semi-good news is that Cousin Dearheart ONLY has primary lymphoma in her brain. Not gliomatosis. The bad news is it’s still terminal but in a less nasty way. Patients can attain complete remission for one or more years with the right treatment, I understand. It’s too rare to be actually curable. So I’m praying for an exception and a stellar medical breakthrough.

The Telemum is the picture of misery. Can’t walk, painkillers only semi-effective part of the time. Still haven’t had a letter with the appointment for surgery, etc. She is becoming despondent and feels she is not going to get better. That mustn’t be true.

I need to get astronomical amounts of work done this week so some help there would be good.

  • I will have to take the Telemum to the GP in about an hour. I don't know how I am going to get her the few steps from house to cab, nor cab to surgery door.

This is beyond tolerable. She is in extreme pain always no matter what we do, there is no sign of any appointment on the horizon, and now she is freezing cold inside a hot house.

From my own point of view I am going to fail my PhD if I can't work something out. I have, as mentioned, hardware assembly to do that I can't do at home.

The GP needs to make something happen NOW, TODAY. We MUST have satisfaction at today's appointment. I don't care how impossible it is, she's waited long enough.
  • Praying for your extreme situation.
  • Okay it seems she has a high and climbing fever and the GP is very worried. Needs IV but nobody available to do it.

    How's Baby Beaky getting on?
  • Prayers for all here.

One of my cousins, E, has just been discovered to have a tumor the size of a large grapefruit on one ovary. It's growing fast, it was only the size of a baseball when it was discovered two weeks ago. She has surgery on Oct 18th to remove it. She's going to lose at least that ovary and tube, and depending on what they find, there may have to be a total hysterectomy. She's only in her 30s, and wants children. Please pray.
  • For Baby Beaky.

For Nicole's E, for current healing and future children.

The Telemum is in the overnight emergency ward, with an IV of The Most Morphine. Her pain is at about level 8. Her current pain management (which is not working) is basically the end of the line.

Thank you for asking Piglet. I hadn't posted for a while because I was struggling with what to say.

Dear little Baby Beaky has deteriorated recently.
Our lovely daughter and her husband have taken the momentous decision that she will give up work at the end of this month to care for him as she is so good at managing his eating and exercise programme and he improved a lot during her recent two week holiday.
This is really hard for her as she has loved her career and it is also an admission of the extent of his disabilities. They are remarkable parents and the sense of loss with having been told they probably couldn't have children due to her previous cancer, then conceiving, then Baby Beaky sustaining catastrophic brain damage at birth due to hospital error is just so hard.
He is on two new drugs to try to control his seizures but so far not much improvement. He now has a standing frame to help strengthen his legs and straighten his back. He also tries so hard to use his hands to play with things but has very little control.

This is a hard time for them all so your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Baby Beaky will be two in January so I suppose I should start calling him Little Beaky now?!
  • That's seriously tough @MrsBeaky - prayers for you all.

Praying through for everyone who posts asking for prayers, and for those who do not ask.
  • Prayers and hugs for you all, Mrs Beaky. So hard for each of you.

  • {{All the Beakies}}

A day at King's College Hospital yesterday. Pain in my legs/difficulty walking may be due to a wiring problem between damaged brain and said legs...blood test results awaited/MRI scan programmed, to be fast-tracked if anything Nasty is discovered.....

    Bother.

<votive>, though, for all in much worse case!
  • For Ross.

    For Nicole’s E.

For Baby Beaky, and for upholding for Mother Beaky. How very tough.

For healing for Bishops Finger and for nothing nasty to be discovered… because it isn’t there, I mean. If it were there we would of course want it to be discovered.

So the good news is the Telemum was NOT in pain, for a change, when I went to visit her this afternoon. She was also in a lying position, which she needs to be in to heal. (Though when I phoned her this evening she said she was sitting up because of the pain…)

So, to recap: she needs surgery to heal her arterial leg ulcers. There are two reasons she can’t have it. One, her test results from last Tuesday’s scan have gone missing. Two, she has cellulitis and can’t be operated on until it heals.

The problem is the IV antibiotics to heal the cellulitis are being hampered by the edema and poor circulation in the ulcerated leg, which is the condition for which she needs surgery.

The doctor said he *hoped* he could help her. What happens if he can’t help her? Amputation is the worst case that I know of, I guess it could get worse than that.

I have to confess a very self-centered fear. I fear that my mother might one day have to go into residential care, which I am certain she would hate hate hate. With a. FIERY. vengeance. What I personally fear for myself is that she would have to sell the house to pay for it, leaving me without a home and no prospect of getting another one in my lifetime. I have lived here for 35 years but I don’t believe that grants me any particular legal rights not to have the home sold and myself evicted (whether sooner or later as a result of inability to pay for it at market rates).

So I’d like to ask that she never needs residential care, for her sake and for mine.

But mostly I want her to get better right away.
