succumb: a dual instrument, developed for parents interested in their baby's good looks and his/her relative quietness; used both as a dummy/pacificer, and for tidying and arranging baby's hair

MamaC: you triggered a long-ago memory for me. I was never around babies, and was scared when I took my first one home from the hospital. My attempts at "bathing" the child were extremely gentle and hit-n-miss. The day before his first pediatrician inspection I discovered that the folds in his plump neck were hiding some old crusty milk residue, and panicked me !! It took me quite some time to clean these out, and I was scared the doctor would be angry...… but the baby boy survived my ineptitude pretty well. :-)
Aspersion: Sprinkling other peoples' conversation with random and usually irrelevant comments.
I was away when Colonization came up, and sad to have missed it. My entry would have been:
Turning someone, often oneself, into an arsehole(UK)/asshole/US. See 'Trumpington' and 'Johnson fig'.
Ocelot: The member of the knights of the round table who kept going back and forth, over and over again, like a cat that can't decide if it wants to be in or out.
