Update: Mum was kept in overnight. One of the many tests was a swab for the coronavirus. That, I am sure, is simply for elimination purposes, but I hope and pray it is duly eliminated.
Spoke to my dad just now. She is reacting exactly as I would have expected, which feels oddly positive. He'll probably give me another ring around lunchtime.
This all feels so bizarrre - it's like being on a different planet, or in a computer game. Surreal.
I’m being sent home early because of the risk of getting infections here in hospital. I still can’t transfer independently, and I will have a package of care from rehab to work with me at home.
Please pray for me, and that my muscle memory will return quickly.
Had a GP phone consultation today as I’m experiencing feelings of pressure in my chest. Doc doesn’t believe it’s heart related so it’s possible it’s anxiety. The pandemic and ongoing distress about the deterioration of my relationship with Mum could explain it. Prayers please as I try deep breathing!
So I just submitted the grant application, and the hardship fund should return a decision within the next day or two. I really need to get both, or there are problems.
The Telemum's dizziness has worsened and she is in real danger of falling. The GP will not let her increase her dose until the MRI comes back, not for at least another week. She is miserable. I gave her a book for Mother's Day but she can't see, so she can't read...
And I now have 13 days to complete the first draft of my thesis, so no more frittering my time away working out what to do about coronavirus in the absence of coherent government strategy or a health service with sufficient resources to meet the challenge.
Please spare an extra prayer for S. who has the virus, and G. whose hard-gotten job has gone for a burton, and who isn't eligible for either sick pay (zero hours) or benefits.
Thank you. 🙏🏻 I’m now feeling achey and fearing the worst. My Grandson J is running a high temp and feeling rough so cb and her family are on lockdown. cb was going to have a job interview tomorrow but that’s now cancelled. Daughter Erin is pregnant so also self isolating but has a midwife appointment next week.
Prayers for all posting. 🕯
Little Beaky and family are now on lock-down on his consultant's instructions. So far, so good but there's a long road ahead for them. His father will be trying to work from home as much as possible, the rest of us will have to stay away......
For Martin - a wonderful, talented, compassionate, and aware young man who (because of Corona virus) has been ordered "home" by his country's government part-way through his year of Volunteer Service. May he always remember what he did here and may he adjust back to life in his own country quickly
Praying for @Tree Bee and for the Beakies. Remembering Martin and trying not to wish that my son might be ordered back home. He had heard that this might last a year and seemed to think he would have to stay that long. I cannot even begin to give credence to that thought. Meanwhile his orphan community is on lock down.
Prayers for a colleague I was supposed to have a phone call with yesterday and from whom I had no response at all.
For Priscilla.
For Tree Bee, Grandson J, cb and Erin.
For K., working in a special needs school that is carrying on as usual. In London.
For S and G.
For Little Beaky and family.
For Galilit’s Martin.
For Rossweisse.
For the Giraffe.
Some good news: the morning after I posted here, the Telemum said she was feeling much better. This morning she said she doesn’t think she’s had a dizzy spell. This is very good!!!
An encouraging nuance: I got the proposal in on time, they acknowledged the next morning and said they’d skimmed it and it looked great. I can’t put too much hope on that feedback, as I’ve experienced similar before and still been turned down - and there are only 1 or maybe 2 grants being awarded.
I still haven’t heard back about the hardship fund and it should have been turned around by about now. I’m going to have some major problems if I don’t get it.
The UK government is about to try to get emergency powers through Parliament lasting TWO YEARS. Legal commentators say this is excessive and renewal every 28 days would be proportionate to the emergency.
Also for the many people in crisis right now due to the pandemic and its various ramifications.
Prayers for all. Not sure what the English schools' closures will mean for me personally yet - we deal with a lot of those for whom the schools will not close. I am, however, on the list of those whose underlying conditions means they should be avoiding other people from the weekend for 12 weeks. Then again, as I live on my own, I'm only supposed to self-isolate for 7 days...
Common Worship Daily Prayer often has unusual renderings of bible texts, and sometimes they seem particularly fitting. Psalm 39 was set for evening prayer today and verse 11 rendered as -
Take away your plague from me;
I am consumed by the blows of your hand.
Prayers for all who feel they are living in plague times, or are overwhelmed by seemingly endless hardships.
Hoorays being said and Hallelujahs with @Telepath.
Prayers for all, and for my Giraffe, who, after what I said yesterday has been given the option to come home next week and has to decide by tomorrow what to do. Pros and cons for him, and I am not going to tell him to just come home, though I would love to!

Now all I need is to get the grant and world domination (what's left of it) is within my grasp.
Lord have mercy
Praying for all the above
