  • Marvin, please tell me you're not thinking of suicide?
  • You know that this isn't therapy, but it is funny in a juvenile way, and mildy NSFW way. The Quanratine Anthem, Jack Maynard.

And connect with people, including us on the Ship but maybe move out of Hell for that.
  • Yeah, okay. I know I'm involved here, but I'm also pulling rank.

    From the FAQ:
I need counselling, medical advice or similar services. Can I access that here?

The Ship is not an adequate substitute for face to face counselling, medical advice or similar services. Please seek professional advice and support in real life. Posts which seek to elicit such responses are strongly discouraged. Repeated posts along those lines will be deleted. The same policy applies in reverse. Do not seek to counsel or diagnose others here. The Ship wants to see all of you happy and healthy, and it is our responsibility to recognise the limitations of this medium.

Is it OK to post suicidal ideations?

The Ship not an appropriate or adequate venue for suicidal ideations. Do not waste precious time by posting here. If you suspect that your feelings of hopelessness or despair are more than just a reaction to a difficult time in your life or normal spiritual angst, or you think about suicide, then you need professional help, immediately, and you can’t get that here.

If there is any substance to potential suicidal ideation, then get the fuck off the Ship, and get the fuck to a doctor or other mental health professional. In the absence of that, Samaritans in the UK are on 116 123.

This thread is a potentially valuable place for Shipmates to let off steam, and do some constructive if impotent cursing as to where we are find ourselves. But I will close it faster than a bulkhead door on leaky spaceship if this shit carries on.

I was getting a lot worried. Please give some thought to how the words you post might be coming across.

Marv - our village has a FB group where people organise e.g. shopping for vulnerable people stuck indoors and whatnot. Is there something like that in your area you can get involved in? Gets you a slight change of scenery, takes your mind off things a bit?

If you have a bike, an hour's exercise will take you anything from 10-20 miles around the local area - still allowed! Definitely lets you get a change of scenery. And it's pretty safe now as there are so few motor vehicles around.

@KarlLB did you miss this bit of the FAQs posted above?

Do not seek to counsel or diagnose others here.

The Ship is not a place to offer helpful suggestions to posters whose mental or physical wellbeing you're concerned about. It may be well-intentioned, but it may also do more harm than good.

Sorry. Didn't think I was straying into that territory.

It really is. I’ve read many stop-me-in-my-tracks true things on SoF over the years, but that’s the truest yet.

It is true. But it's also part of the process to go through a mourning of the [non-biological] deaths that occur as part of accommodating to it.

Very true; until it happened, I used to think I'd be looking for a tall building if I lost David. My life certainly isn't following Plan A, but Plan B is what I've been given, so I'll just have to make what I can of it.

Marvin, you have my sympathy and my prayers; most of us hate being cooped up in our houses and not seeing anyone, but if that's what it takes to slow down the spread of the virus, then so be it.

BTW, good to see you, @Pyx_e!
  • I knew there was a gap in my life, and all the time it was "rusty". Phew.

Depends if it's a fucking farm or not...

On a more depressing note, that's the first of our congregation gone to this bastard.

We've lost two so far and the current situation means that many of the things you do when someone dies to mark their passing are off limits.

Frankly, right now I don't care about the state of the farm instrument as long as it does the job but it's lovely to see @Pyx_e

Good to see you again Pyx_e. And thanks for the correction. But let us be clear, the original was not a rusty farm implement -- Erin (PBUH) was very specific that it was a rusty farm auger.

    Now that is unbiblical.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy
or words to that effect :innocent:
  • This has made me wonder for years. How should one pronounce @Pyx_e ? Is it "pixie", or is the final e silent?
  • Huia--

Awww. That's just their gruff way of saying "hey, good to see you", kind of like punching someone's arm.

    Sweet, really.
    ;)

  • This has made me wonder for years. How should one pronounce @Pyx_e ? Is it "pixie", or is the final e silent?
The _e is a long 'ee' sound. The 'y' is an 'o' sound.
