Or even, crossing the Thames on a south-east diagonal, St. John's (change at Southwark for Waterloo East).
  • la vie en rougela vie en rouge Circus Host, 8th Day Host
Playing the Gallic inversion, St Paul, which rather ironically is the Jewish quarter of Paris.
  • BroJamesBroJames Purgatory Host, 8th Day Host
I have a feeling St. Paul may have had Jewish connections. Anyway, rolling gently on to

    Bastille
(And the left bank is now in spoon.)
  • Continuing the theme of historical imprisonment: Tower of London (oh yes, there was once!)
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I've just escaped - Tower Gateway

Better go further: London City Airport.
  • Royal Victoria to go play on the cable cars
  • Powell Street station for more cable cars
  • SipechSipech Shipmate
With the cable car allocation all used up now, I think there's little choice but to head along the inverted diagonal to Bermondsey.
  • Inverted Diagonals ?? On a Friday ?
    Pinner
  • But, but, but - North Greenwich also has cable cars (the other end from Royal Victoria), and is easily reached from Bermondsey on the Jubilee Line

You try saying "easily reached" after you do that trip at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Tsk!

    Onwards, to Angmering!

  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Well, if we're doing that Friday afternoon Ing thing,

    Ingatestone
  • Continuing with the ing theme Barkingside
  • Lingjing Hutong and double
  • Goodness, I go away for 36 hours and just see what happens. We need to restore some order here, if not sanity. Leicester (Belgrave Road). That should damp down the flames a bit.
  • Well in that case how about Waterloo
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    Agincourt, obviously.
  • Oh if we are going in that direction then Battle
  • And so, with a leap and a bound, we're back on the Underground: Turnham Green.
  • JapesJapes Shipmate
Shadwell - since we're in battle mode.
  • FirenzeFirenze Shipmate, Host Emeritus
Ashkirk - the nearest station to Dryden (you were thinking of McFlecknoe no?)

  • Shadwell , for Cable Street
  • What, back there again so soon? We'd better move decisively to escape its magnetism: Oakwood.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    St. John's Wood
  • South Woodford

    Monday morning, back to work
    Hounslow West

(nearest station to our London Office)
  • SipechSipech Shipmate
Going round the compass are we? OK, then.
    Northolt
Good luck to the next player in avoiding a transverse decoupling penalty.
  • What's wrong with Dagenham East? Easily reached with by lazy change at Mile End

Having exhausted the cardinal points, it's off to Finchley Central.

Be careful, moves to westbound platforms are now invalid.
  • If we can't have a cardinal point, what about Paddington (Bishop's Road)? - eastbound towards Edgware Road, of course.
  • Croxley

and yes, my dilateral Fringes have bifurcated edges
  • I think you can probably get tablets for that ...
  • BroJamesBroJames Purgatory Host, 8th Day Host
No. It needs surgery. I suggest the Royal Free and

    Belsize Park
  • Not St Thomas' and Westminster?
  • BroJamesBroJames Purgatory Host, 8th Day Host
From there you could go on one line to within a short (and attractive) walk of Guy’s - straight through to

    Monument
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I was thinking something along those lines, BT.

Faversham should be safe enough at this time of day.
  • SipechSipech Shipmate
You've clearly never been to Kent late on a Monday evening.

For refuge, try sheltering at Littlehaven.

Do you realise what you've done there? Only put the whole of the British mainland into spoon! Fortunately there's a way out - and we can even use a Tube train for part of the journey: Havenstreet.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
If the mainland's still in spoon, then I'd better play Groudle Glen.
  • A very delicate option, I must say. I think we'll need to hop over to Toronsay Castle although you might find a distinct lack of rails.
  • If I am correct then Port Soderick should be playable.
  • That was a quick leap back! Better keep island-jumping, this time to St. Helier (Snow Hill),
  • SipechSipech Shipmate
As we are now in the liminal space where Tuesday turns into Wednesday, we can board the midnight express to the exotic heights of Penge West.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    Ooh, exotic indeed. And brave!

    Better head for the Bailey:

    St. Paul's
  • BroJamesBroJames Purgatory Host, 8th Day Host
I think I need some advice for that

    Chancery Lane
  • I used to go to Lincoln's Inn via Holborn, but Inner Temple is easier to reach from Temple
  • For real excitement you could try Aldwych. But don't go via Embankment and Holborn, just walk up the road, it's much quicker.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Or, if you want to disappear altogether,

    King's Cross (Platform 9¾)
  • You do know where this takes us, don't you?

Clearly, Glenfinnan (for the viaduct: http://tiny.cc/e9ej8y). But why they dared paint a Great Western locomotive red beggars belief!
