  • I am on freaking HOLD forever and ever and ever as I try to get a disabled man some answers about the refusal of his benefits. It's on speakerphone, so the rest of my family can (NOT) enjoy the lovely hold music with me.

I must say, they are doing better than they did earlier this week, when after a huge phone tree, they informed me that a) to avoid high call volumes, I should call during brief period X (which was in fact when I was calling); and b) "because we don't want you to have a long wait, we are terminating this call now! BYEEEEEEE!"

I can do precisely shit-all while I am waiting for a human being to pick up (as if). Therefore I come to the Ship, to plague you all.
  • Yay! Got a decent, kind, humorous human being who was extremely helpful in every way--and this at a government agency, AFTER 5 PM!!!! Talked to her supervisor, they say she'll be recognized in some way for her awesomeness. Hopefully it will involve $.

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
We've been letting the wonderful cooks at a local restaurant make the Meal for us for the past two years, and will do so again tomorrow. Very much looking forward to being with my family! <3

    Happy Thanksgiving!

My friend Susan and I let J. Gilbert's cook for us last year, and will do so again tomorrow.
  • Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  • Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
This Yank/ Brit will be celebrating on Saturday as the UK won't let the kids out of school for a Thursday so I'll be knee deep in pie-making and house/ food prep from now until then... hope you all have the best of times
  • We’re going out in just a few minutes for a really great buffet at our college alumni club, as we have done for many years (thanks, mother-in-law!), but I’ve made the apple cake and glazed it with caramel glaze so that we have something homemade later in the day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, whether celebrating today or Sunday!!

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving from snowy New Brunswick.

Go easy on those green-bean casseroles! :flushed:

    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
We had a lovely meal with my parents, my BFF, D-U and her dear Hubby, his step-dad and my daughter-in-law! And a great time was had by all, especially since the nice people at the hometown restaurant cooked and cleaned up for us. Yay!

I took my visiting friend out for a nice dinner at a favorite restaurant. Sometimes it's good not to have to deal with family on a holiday.
  • I'm having Th'ing dinner tomorrow (Saturday) at Son2 & DIL's place. She refuses to let me bring anything! She knows that my kitchen is not as spick an' Span as hers is. Son2 is cooking the turkey in some kinda special turkey fryer. These modern kids. It'll be great.

No service to play Th'g Day. In the 'old days' I was chief music maker at an historic church in fox hunting country. Church was packed, and many sight-seers roamed around outside, waiting for the end of the service to see the blessing of the hounds, horses and riders. Some in the choir were riders. Stable boys (and girls) were tending the horses for them. I always gave those singers a hard time, telling them that wearing their boots and SPURS was not exactly correct. Was a big laugh. But, alas, the hunting country is now given over to high price estates. Things have changed. Foxes have moved elsewhere. The 1/2 acre 'estate' owners don't have chickens. I don't think a fox was ever harmed, or chased on Thanksgiving.

Eat sensibly. Drink wisely. Tell God and Angels and Saints, Thank You.
