Thanks to all for their prayers for me. Back to work today feeling more positive! It is very cold and clear this morning, and in my starlit walk I prayed for the light of God's grace for all those on this thread - courageous souls the lot of you!
Prayers for all, especially Robert and his mum, resonating here, where D is at end of life, neither eating nor drinking enough, and her son goes to bed in the morning not knowing if D will be there when he wakes. But like Robert's mum, she hasn't got to her 90s without being tough.
I heard yesterday that D's mum, who's 90 and has Alzheimer's, has a breast lump and they're waiting for the results of a biopsy. This really is more than his sister, C, ought to have to cope with, having recently lost her brother - prayers would be appreciated.
Would you pray for C's rabbit, she is taking it to the vet tomorrow and it looks like it will be expensive and this is a student who does not have parents with money to help her out.
Oh, Tree Bee, that's awful. I hope you and your mum can work something out, as she may need all the support she can get. Prayers ascending (and for Nicole's E. and C.).

Thank you. The ambulance crew arrived at the full stop, and have just left, having given palliative injections. D looks - very different from the way she has looked till today, her face skeletal. We are going to be up with her, me for at least part of the night, him for longer. She may need another dose before the morning.
I tried to raise the rector, but she was out, but I've left a message.
The paramedic, brilliant, could not predict whether it will be tonight or in a few weeks time, but D is now between this life and the next, and will probably not be able to communicate much from now on.
Her son has been preparing for this practically every night recently, but even so, now it is recognised by others, he is finding it a great deal to bear.
D has now left us - I am finding the usual expressions difficult. She went gradually, holding her son's hand, but not communicating anything. We are waiting for a doctor to confirm so that her son can start the next processes.
I was reading a John Buchan which used The Pilgrim's Progress, and realise how little that sort of thing makes of what the people behind have to do when all the trumpets have sounded for the people who have crossed over to the sound of trumpets.
It will be a long night.
And a long weekend before we can put the worldly processes into train.

Penny S, condolences to you and her son for the loss. You were a trooper and made it through a lot of difficulties that many of us would have had trouble accepting. I hope the next week goes well for you.
My mother died, very peacefully, on Wednesday. Planning the funeral is tricky because we can't get the family around the table to sort it out, due to geography. I know a bit about funerals, because I take them, but am trying very hard to include everyone. My sister has picked on one suggestion I made, and disagreed with it, strongly. At first I resisted her point, but then found a way round that left space for both of us. She is now saying she can't come, because she's so upset about how I've treated her, which is upsetting her children as well. Families.....
There is no predicting what people will do or say at times like this. Can you speak to someone else to smooth things over with her? She is probably used to you being the one who does everything right and has a thick skin and doesn't realize that you are grieving too. I hope it works out better than it is so far.
