The run-up to this surgery is causing all kinds of headaches, including erratic and concerning behavior by someone in my family. My surgery has been put off to the 12th, and the recovery will be awkward and may not have all the support that I need. My anxiety is really spiking here--
A good friend from church (J), just let me know that her 97-year-old mother (M), who's been hospitalized for the past week with various problems, is making a decision tomorrow about refusing medical treatment and going on hospice. Please pray for J, M, as well as J's sister and husband.
My mum's cancer is proving very disruptive to my relationship with my immediate family, and relationships within the family generally. My praye is that there may be healing of these relationships, and loving authentic communication. (that might border on the miraculous, but where there's any kind of life, there's hope.....)
Meanwhile, of your mercy - here's a request from me.
It'll be a year this coming Wednesday (11th December) since the passing of Mrs Gamaliel. It's come round incredibly fast. At the same time, my mother is in hospital following a heart attack and subsequent 'stroke-like' reactions to an attempt to fit stents. The scan revealed no damage to the brain and the doctors aren't quite sure what happened.
She has a lung condition and this has begun to affect her gullet and swallowing as well as her breathing. There is a risk that the second attempt may cause a similar reaction to the first but unless it's made then there's a high likelihood of her experiencing a massive and fatal heart attack this coming week.
That'd be bad enough at any time but obviously this week of all weeks ...
Sure, I know we've all got to go sometime and that times and seasons can be quite arbitrary - and if the procedure is successful this time it'll only be a stay of execution - my mother's sarcoid is very advanced and she is in her '80s. Even so ...
Please pray for a group of tourists who were visiting White Island, an active volcano off the east coast of the north island of NZ when it erupted today, About 20 people are missing, one has died and several are in hospital with severe burns. At present the NZ Police say it is too dangerous to land on the island.
From what I could gather some of the tourists are Australian, but there may be other nationalities involved.
Praying for @Gamma Gamaliel and his mother, also for @Lothlorien having scans (See UK thread). And others. That the starlight of the morning would shine God's light and the snow showers that descend would shower blessing - even if you don't have the same climactic conditions!

An email I sent which said many of the things I had left unsaid has helped, but it's a small step on a long road. I have received a reply which suggests that my mum is still in a dark place which she can't conceive of letting anyone else into. Perseverance in love for all, please and thank you God.
Prayers for GG and for all avoid this blessed barque....
The police are reporting that they do not expect any of the people left on White Island to be alive. Prayers for all the families involved, or fearing they may be involved.
Please more prayers for E and C in their marital strife. He left her, and she wants him back so much it's painful to see. She's taken some major actions in her life to try and show him that she's changing and things are worth patching up. Please pray that he's moved by her sincerity to try again.
Prayers for all here. Horrible about the volcano and the missing people. special prayers for them.
Asking for prayers for people here in South Africa, especially the elderly and most vulnerable, as we move into unprecedented power blackouts that will leave cities without electricity for up to 10 hours at a time
Many thanks folks. I am pleased to report that my mum had three stents fitted today - a day earlier than anticipated - and that the procedure went smoothly and without complications. We are all very relieved.
It's the anniversary of my wife's death tomorrow so the last thing I wanted was complications with my aged mother's operation on that day of all days. Mercifully, we seem to have avoided that.
Please pray for the repose of the soul of our oldest parishioner E who entered into his heavenly life last night. He turned 98 a fortnight ago on the same day he underwent an angiogram which determined that his heart condition was inoperable and he entered palliative care. He was one of the many Australians who served in Bomber Command during WWII, and will be sorely missed by his family and parishioners for his quietly spoken and piercing intellect.

The 12th will be a trying day for many, so special prayers in advance of the day all around.

Anniversaries are difficult: I'm going to be facing my first "significant date" tomorrow, which would have been D's birthday.

Lord P has an interview at 8am tomorrow - it’s a job he’d like and would be good at.
