Can we draft [ Chelsea Clinton ] to take over Jared's job? Please?
Which one? In addition to running a shadow COVID-19 response team (the official one is being run by Mike Pence) Kushner is also supposed to be solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, reorganizing the federal government, and reforming the criminal justice system.
My brother, who notices these things, has noticed that Dr. Deborah L. Birx has worn a different color scarf every day as she stands behind the fartletter-in-chief at his press conferences. He's made a game of predicting what the next color will be. His current prediction is red for Palm Sunday, white for Maundy Thursday, black for Good Friday.
We have a few very smart football and rugger players, lawyers and doctors inter alia after their professional careers. Is Rodriguez one of those by any chance? Also wasn't the guy who featured in the 'magic spit ball' episode of Seinfeld, who Jerry had a crush on, called Rodriquez too?

I found last night's briefing to be the worst yet. Particularly when Trump prevented Fauci from answering a question. His obsession with encouraging people to try treatment untested for COVID-19 will kill some. It's all about getting the country back to work quickly to restart the economy and therefore help him get re-elected. It's all about him as usual.
Don't know how many of the US Shipmates saw it but our 93 year old Queen broadcast as Head of State last night and in my book did a very remarkable job. When it comes to grace, class and wisdom, she makes Trump look like the cheapskate he is.
I saw it online, and it was very good. Invoked a WWII spirit, which she probably remembers very well. Must be hard, though, at her age, to experience this level of problem again.

Especially when her successor was found to have the virus.

We certainly did see Her Majesty in rebroadcasts everywhere.

My sister, however, a retired nurse practitioner, has pointed out that hydroxychloroquine has been generic for some time, and in its generic form is actually quite inexpensive. The Trump family apparently has an interest only in the French company that manufactures it under a proprietary brand name.
What disturbs me more, however, is the following remark from her: "I could easily prescribe it for you but I am a Trump supporter so maybe another prescriber could handle it."
The drug costs about 15 cents per 200mg tablet here. The brandname is 63 cents. The drug is used for seronegative rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and a few other autoimmune conditions. Neighbour informs pharmacy is having difficulty filling his prescription. The brandname will be filled for the generic price.

And people with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and other autoimmune conditions are not able to get their medications, thanks to 45.

Yikes. (:votive:)
If I may ask, any idea if she thinks the med should only be for Trump supporters? Or maybe has slipped a few gears, due to the stressful situation?
She can be very outspoken and often says things she doesn't mean. My other sister has said just to ignore her and not take it personally.
I think I'm more surprised by the fact that she apparently thinks hydroxychloroquine is not only a proven cure, but a proven preventative, and should be taken as freely as Dramamine would be taken for seasickness.
Oh, and that she's a Trump supporter. She was brought up to be better than that. Not so much her husband, though, who would surprise me if he were **not** a Trump supporter.

And the master news cycle deflector is at it again. Blaming the WHO for his February inaction. And doubling down too.
No, I don't need to take food with me. Everybody knows the moon is made of green cheese. I love green cheese -- my good friend Joe Arpaio taught me how to make green baloney sandwiches with green cheese. Delicions. Good man, that Joe Arpaio -- the best! Maybe he can come to the moon with me. We'll open up a MacDonald's on the moon. My favorite restaurant, MacDonald's. There's a lot of Mexicans who work there -- but good Mexicans. What? The moon **isn't** made of green cheese? Lying liberal fake media hoax. Nancy Pelosi is behind it, you mark my words. She thinks the moon is made of rock? Her head is made of rock!
if POTUS 45 doesn't stand to gain from this incessant promotion, I'm a monkey's uncle.
If I understand the situation he probably doesn't stand to gain much (it's non-proprietary so nobody can corner supply), and he would only think he does if he were an ignoramus with no genuine grasp of how business works.
What?

Seriously, he is is advertising, isn't he? And he is always motivated, first and formost, by his own best interests.
I don't think his promotion of unproven drugs has anything at all to do with his infinitesimal ownership share in the manufacturer's stock.
Trump naturally gravitates to immediate rhetorical gratification - his own and that of his supporters. Promising an untested drug is like promising that the virus will disappear "like a miracle", or that the country will be open by Easter, or that he's got a great health care plan that protects those with pre-existing conditions, or any of a million other bullshit things he's said.
One thing that does surprise me: T reportedly has a germ phobia, but I haven't seen any sign of it in relation to the virus. He has various modes of (dys)functioning, and maybe he's just in a mode where his phobia is buried.
I did notice in today's (?) press briefing that he looked unwell: not his usual state, but really pale and drawn. Could just be no spray tan. But he looked like he might be coming down with something. Not necessarily COVID-19, and I certainly don't wish that on him.. Just offering an observation.
He’s not been to Florida for some time. I think having to actually do his job without those breaks is taking its toll. Terribly ‘tho he’s doing it.
He is used to a lot of relaxation and downtime with people on hand to meet his every need - and has never had to face the reality of actual work in his life.
There is also the financial worry for him, I expect. A US and worldwide depression won’t bode well for the hotel and golf industry or any of his money/shares etc etc.
Regarding his germ phobia - you can be germ phobic but thick about how they are spread at the same time.

My youngest grandson knows just how dumb that is. Emperor's new clothes is tame in the face of the continued loyal support for this dangerously dumb dumbass.

It's in the Guardian's live US column, can't do a link.

My late dad had this phrase. "He's so low he could crawl under a snake's belly with a top hat on".
That there are no pockets in a Shroud?
Let's make it 95% stupid, 5% mendacious. After all, he also had help from Fox News's Laura Ingraham.

Hey, he has nothing to hide, has he?
In the meantime, inquiring minds want to know if he has any financial interest in the company making hydroxychloroquine.
Ya just can't make this up.

Sure. When lying through your teeth doesn't work, threaten retaliation.
True lunacy...
Once more, you couldn't make it up.
Maybe we can send him up there to do the mining himself. Oops! It's a one-way ticket!
From his aquarium?

It's hard to believe he doesn't expect to gain.

Is there no end to this infantile idiot's idiocy? And to the idiocy of those who support him?
