Please pray for Our Place, facing terminal decline (unless the Holy Spirit works a miracle soon.....).
Early last year, a then recently-retired priest with PTO visited incognito, having been quietly asked to look after us as a sort of 'Interim Minister'.
He was duly welcomed in our usual merry fashion, and, fortunately, there was a fair turn-out on that particular Sunday.
Alas, a serious leg injury sustained in a road accident just before his retirement flared up soon afterwards, and The Plan had to be abandoned (the poor man is still undergoing treatment, with further surgery planned, and is not well enough to give us even the Sunday + one or two weekdays we had hoped for).
Meanwhile, sadly, and in spite of all our efforts, the congregation continues to decline. If the present trend carries on, we may well be closing the doors permanently before the end of the year.
Our small nucleus of a dozen or so Faithful Few really, really needs some encouragement to carry on, but, of course, it may be that the time for making an end has come. If so, may we have the grace and strength to accept it.
I have been attending this thread very poorly recently so I must make amends and send some prayers for those in need.
That includes Eldest Son who sustained a knee injury playing American Football (yes, in Britain). He can get about now but for a week he couldn’t get his trousers on over his swollen knee. Otherwise we need to get our act together concerning our impending move!
May the flame of the Holy Spirit set hearts on fire so that BF's place and many others will see new life, and be filled with those ready to go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
My oldest brother who has Parkinson's apparently has some kind of mass in his abdomen according to my sister-in -law. I'm trying to stay calm about this as she is sometimes overly dramatic, but I'm not doing well.
He is already in care, so he will be looked after (taken to the hospital for tests etc) so there is nothing extra I could do even if I could afford to go up. I had already booked tickets for August (his birthday) but it now seems a long way away. Meanwhile I will continue to make cards to send every week - at least it's some contact.
Praying for all here.
(Despite my intention of using the transfer to the new Ship as a spur to posting more frequently, I'm actually posting even less than before. I do read regularly though)
My sister-in-law H who we've just found out is in hospice care and apparently has a jaw tumor (?) and is in severe pain. Also Mr. Lamb, who is going to see her.
<votive> Praying through the list, after more than a week's absence.
I ask your prayers for myself. I've been having some vocal problems - inconsistent production, and gravelly sound - and went to see an ENT. I have an atrophied right vocal cord. I have some vocal exercises and the name of a speech pathologist who specializes in singers, but I have sung my last solo. I'm having a hard time with this. I've always been able to open my mouth and sing; my first public solo was at age 4, and I made a living at it for 25 years. (And if you could also pray that the box of cassettes that are my only record of said voice could turn up, I would be most grateful.)
For Bishop's faithful few <votive>
For sore knees <votive>
For Huia and her brother <votive>
For Janine <votive>
For the Lamb family <votive>
For Ross <votive>
For those bedeviled by water - too little or too much <votive>
Thank you! (A friend of mine said, "This must be what it's like to lose a limb," and I think it really is.) It's been one of the toughest weeks of my life, and that includes the near-year devoted to the Big Cancer.
For BP's Our Place, and for healing for the guy with the injured leg. And for BF's leg.
For sioni's son, for healing. For a smooth move.
For WormInTheGrass' knees...
For Huia's brother.
For Janine.
For H Chopped.
For the restoration of Ross's voice, and the return of the tapes of said voice.
For those bedevilled by the presence or absence of water.
So over the early May Bank Holiday, Problem Cat scratched the Telemum and she bled most dramatically everywhere and the next day I went to church and came back to find her all up the creek with sepsis (via cellulitis) and spent the weekend in the emergency room. Blood tests were clear 10 days ago but the wound itself still hurt and as of today she has a new prescription for antibiotics. I would really like this to be healed this time, and I especially don't want the Telemum to be subjected to recurring cellulitis.
I would also like it if Problem Cat could learn to control his aggression but at this point in his life I would be pretty amazed. I have trimmed his claws, but he still has teeth, and he chomped right into my arm without warning today.
The rational thing would be to take him on a one-way trip to the vet, and don't think I haven't suggested it. The Telemum regards him as an acceptable risk, like keeping a lion or a tiger and accepting the occasional mauling as part of your living conditions. It would however be cruel irony if Problem Cat were to inadvertently kill the one person he loves most in the world.
And p.s. I know I haven't been around much lately, but when I think of the continuity of knowing all of you via these boards over the last 15 years, I get misty-eyed.
Many, many prayers for you and a big welcome of the faithful Telepath.
Elder son's knee is moving and he has his first appointment with the physioterrorist next week, by which time his knee should be in good enough shape for them to bugger it up again.
We have found a new abode and the landlord and agent have agreed, subject to references. This has given us impetus: the adult children (adren?) who still live at home are under orders to do their share. We need to make the financial arrangements and hope the references come through OK, or we will have to put everything in storage and live in a tent.
Oh, and a private intention, for people close to us.
Prayers ascending for all in need, especially Telepath (good to see you back!), the Telemum and Problem Cat.
Mrs. Beaky, how's Baby Beaky getting on? He's still on my list with the Almighty.
Thank you for asking, Piglet
It was touch and go as to whether he would need to be tube fed but the little trooper has been eating for England consuming his Mum's high calorie delicious cooking and has gained weight.
He is having a huge number of seizures so lots of hospital appointments to try to get them under control. They lurch from one crisis to another but are keeping going.
So thank you for your prayers
For SS' elder son's knee, house move and private intention <votive>
Ongoing prayers for Baby Beaky <votive>
Asking for prayers for my friend A who was diagnosed with worsening osteoartritis, had a knee replacement, a shoulder replacement, removal of her gall bladder and then became addicted (at the age of 58) to the opiate medications prescribed and is now on suboxone and struggling.
Prayers for Janine and her family (she's not been around for ages but I exchanged goodies one of the Secret Santas or Paschal Penguins)
Ongoing prayers for Baby Beaky and bébé en rouge
For Sioni Sais and family, including elder son and his physioterrorist (I like that one, I will be stealing it)
For MaryLouise's A
For Rossweisse as she continues to live with and deal with cancer
For Bishop's Finger, his legs and for his hope for his church
For Golden Key
For Telepath, Telemum and the Problem Cat
For all other praying on this thread, both for the asked and unasked prayers.
(I'm fine, honestly - I think that refers back to page 1, 3 months ago. I suspect I'll have very little obvious marking when I'm fully healed, and I'm really not baying for vengeance, just that my aggressor gets treatment or if she continues to refuse to be medicine compliant, she is held for everyone's safety. Some compensation for the injuries would be nice, she says wistfully.)
I was just wondering about Sir K and Zeke this morning; prayers ascending for them, Janine, CK and all in need.
Could I ask for prayers for two of our friends, P and C (one in Scotland, one here in Canada), who are both dealing with health issues and surgery? Thanks (again - I feel as if I've been asking a lot lately).
