    Seconded.

    And vomit.

    And killing me.

    And head vs brick wall.
  • head vs brick wall.
Overused. Or, would be if Telford had been posting when we had that.

  • Where is Telford, anyway?

(Apart from the one in Shropshire, that is, and the other one, who is presumably still in his grave).
  • Telford the Thread-Killer might describe him fairly well, as his dead hand descends on an otherwise interesting subject, and forces attention upon his dull and boring self...
    :disappointed:

Sorry that is an insult to Og.
  • O.
    :open_mouth:

I had a feeling there was another Shipmate with that cognomen, although I don't think they're aboard the New Vessel (unless under another name...).

My Umble Apollo Gees to them, anyway - and, IIRC, the username was a wry and whimsical comment, certainly Not True of that particular person!

    As opposed to present subject...
    :innocent:
  • I seem to recall that Og took that name after he noticed that quite often he'd post on a thread and no one would respond leaving his post as the last one ... which is a different form of thread killing to that of Telford.
  • Quite - but it's surely a bit of a bummer if one's post does turn out to be the Very Last One!
    :flushed:
  • **checks old threads**
  • Dropping in to make sure you don't do an Og...

  • And a new saying is born - “doing an Og”.

    😜

  • Though I have been reading SOF for many years, I have only recently started - very tentatively - to post, as I fit the profile of a white liberal advantaged well educated COE person all too well and you already have plenty of those!

I'm afraid the postings from the gentleman about whom this thread is are very depressing in their apparent lack of apprehension of their effect they have on others.

But I wonder if he is as innocent of this as he makes out. He reminds me very much of the emotional vampire Colin Robinson (I think that's his name) in the wonderful 'What we do in the Shadows' sitcom. An emotional vampire, apparently, feeds on the negative emotions of others which, in order to be satiated, he does his best to provoke.

  • An interesting point, indeed.

I've not seen What we do in the shadows, but emotional vampire is disturbingly close to the truth in Telford's case, I suspect.

    There's no I in Team, but there's a hole in the A.

(I prefer something slightly more genre - "There will be no survivors!")

Some folk, the subject of this thread among them, seem capable of deploying other orifices for this function.
  • So Telford - on the thread about traumatic media, you state "I don't finish books I don't enjoy"likethe Grade 1 troll you are. Why is that relevant? I presume you are still on the Famous Five, or you may have graduated to the Seven books.

And then you have to start arguing. Bear in mind that the POINT of that thread is works that are really upsetting and disturbing, but also really good.

If you have nothing to actually contribute (which seems to be always true) then go stick your head in a cess pit for an hour.
  • @Telford - read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the above post by @Schroedingers Cat .

It will do you no harm, and you might even benefit.

Are we allowed to read the Secret Seven at the moment? There are 7 of them.
  • Telford on the Handcock thread. Making it all about Telford - again.

    PseudoTroll be gone!

  • It's doing the same on some other threads, too. Its (pseudo)bridge must be getting a bit uncomfortable, or something.
  • What is the point of Telford?

Answers may be about the Telford form of your choice.
  • Speak roughly to your Little Boy,
and beat him when he sneezes!
He only does it to annoy,
    because he knows it teases!

I think the problem was not just that he was/is a troll, but that he's been so successful. If you look at many threads, he'd throw in a trollish post, and the next page and a half would be taken up with people who'd taken the bait; then another from Telford and off it would go again. The whole point of the thread had been lost. If others had shut up and got on with the business of the thread itself, minus Telford, he'd have give up very quickly.

    Well said.
  • Indeed, but Telford reminds me of that itch you've just got to scratch, or that little scab you've just got to pick at...

You know you really shouldn't scratch, or pick, but you simply can't help it...

Yes, yes - more Self-Control needed...
    :disappointed:

The trollish Telford may be lurking here (as I am but a simple Host, I have no way of knowing), but it's interesting that it's not posting here.

  • It may have taken note of various comments, and be avoiding this thread. However, it is posting elsewhere in what I might call typical, but not over-exasperating, style...

  • He said else where he would not post here.
  • You're right - so he did...
    :disappointed:
  • Yes, because people here are “rude.”

ISTM that Telford's refusal to post on this thread actually serves a very useful function. If criticism of Telford is kept to this thread only, people get to blow off steam but without feeding the troll and allowing him to derail other discussions.
  • I don't think people entirely have the measure of V-E Bott. She wants to go crawling through mud with the boys. I don't think Telford is of the same order.
  • You may have a point there...

Sorry, Telford - The Outlaws are not for you!

He has also dropped out of the thread in Purgatory, where rudeness is kept in check. Interesting.
  • Why, Boogie! You're so...so...forceful lately! I'm used to the easygoing, gentle, almost timid at times Boogie.

I quite enjoy reading the posts of this more gritty Boogie. 😇🥰

Yes - by not rising to the bait, he'd have no further point to make. There have been numerous boards filled with pages and pages of responses to his occasional troll-posts; had they been left alone, and debate continued on the real points, it would have progressed much better. There's a lot in what la vie en rouge says.

  • Your teacher voice won’t affect me miss. Can I go to the toilet miss? Here’s an apple miss
  • SIT DOWN AT ONCE and cross your legs, Wretched Child!

    Whose head?
