We are grateful that none of us came down with the virus. Thanks for asking and allowing me to express my dismay!!
  • Glad you're all ok.
  • Oh @jedijudy, I’m so glad you and your APs are OK. Awful for the doctor, though. Has his plight caused sober thoughts and re-evaluation amongst his immediate colleagues and wider local community?
  • jedijudyjedijudy Heaven Host, 8th Day Host
Thank you, Golden Key! We are very grateful!

Thanks, WormInTheGrass! I can tell you that his immediate colleagues never approved of his attitude or refusal to wear a mask!! They were extremely unhappy about it, and when he was hospitalized, and the staff (and all the patients he saw) had to get the dreaded brain scrape, they were so afraid for everyone.

As far as the local community, they don't know. It's a very small, private practice. I had made a comment on FB about this doctor, encouraging people to just wear the mask. Some folks actually refused to believe what happened, and demanded to know his name. Wow. Of course, I did not share that information, which they took as further proof that it was a bogus story. They had never heard of anyone being in the ICU for months! (I guess they don't hear things like that on FOX.)

Anyway, there are signs on the door that everyone must wear a mask. There are still people who try to be seen without one. The nurse is so over it that she has no problem yelling at them to get out until they have their mask on!

Do they not know about actor Nick Cordero, and the hell he went through before he died from Covid? (AP News)

About halfway down the page, there's a paragraph that sums up what he went through. I'd post it, but IMHO some of it is especially disturbing.

I don't think I'd heard of him before his ongoing story. But...wow.
    :(

The article also talks about condolences from specific colleagues, and other Broadway folks who've suffered with Covid. If they think Covid is a hoax, or made to sound much worse than it is, they might pay attention to articles they can easily verify, and to grieving celebs.

    FWIW. YMMV.

Yeah, but they all led immoral lives, did drugs, etc. etc. Me? I'm a God-fearing, Bible-thumping Christian who's proud to say that God hates all the same things that I hate. God would never sic COVID-19 on me.

    So they reason.
  • Okay, re morality, let's get this straight: VD is for Everyone.

Yes, I know, it's not COVID but COVID is for everyone too.

I'm sorry for the foolish doctor, @jedijudy, but grateful that you and the Aged Ps are okay. Please continue staying safe!

Golden Key, I think these are some of the same people who think that Sandy Hook was fake news. Unless it directly happens to them, or someone they love, they won't believe it.

Miss Amanda, I think it would be useful to have some Bible Thumpers who get sick and/or die from Covid in the news, or someplace where those ignorant people could be hit over the head with a clue bat. (They would probably consider that fake news, too.)

Thanks, Rossweisse!! I'm sorry for him and his loved ones, too...but so, so very grateful that we tested negative!!!!

I'm still ticked about him being so dismissive and foolish.

Clearly that would be a backslider, receiving the wrath of God for falling away from the True Faith™. Not relevant for the True Believers who are protected by the full armour of God (which doesn't include a face mask).
  • Not a Bible Thumper as such (though he has been seen to wave a Bible in the air), but the POTUS has Covid-19...

Or says he has. It would be entirely in character for him to lie, in order to take attention away from the issues, garner a sympathy vote, and to dodge further TV debates.

I don't think he'd lie about doing something that makes him that "makes him weak." He wants to be Putin when he grows up.

Well, at least nobody's talking about his taxes anymore. That's so two days ago!
  • Ruth has commented elsewhere that *doomsday planes* were airborne before Trump twittered that he had tested positive, which was meant to demonstrate to Uncle Vlad Putin, and anyone else watching, that the nuclear chain of command was still intact.

O thank God/god/gods for such a blessed reassurance!

In two weeks he'll declare himself to be clean and strong, having beaten the virus. Anyone else who dies from it will just be weak and a loser. Given his unblemished record of lying, there's no reason to take anything that comes out of the White House today at face value.
  • GwaiGwai Epiphanies Host
I never trust the guy. I suspect he has covid. I imagine he will recover and be fine, saying it's because he's tough. And in the nonce, he will blame people--I've already heard rumors that it was the Chinese--for his illness and people will suffer.

Well, as this is Hell, I'll just say that I very much hope he does NOT recover in a couple of weeks.

I'll leave it there. Let the reader understand.

As an American, I really do not want him to die and put our election into turmoil. He's made enough mess of our elections as it is! He has great health care though he probably won't.

    Understood.

I was thinking, rather, along the lines of him being unable to do more than TwitFace ineffectually from his Bed Of Sickness, whilst the election goes on without him...

As I posted on that thread, BBC reports the flight in question was a regularly scheduled military exercise that occurs roughly every two days. Had nothing to do with the president's test, except in the minds of those who, for their own reasons, were spreading rumours of conspiracies.

I don't want Trump to die, because wishing for anyone's death makes me a bad person. However I do want him to lose the election, badly, and be too unwell for all the mischief he's planning to make when that happens.
  • This.

It appears he has *mild* symptoms, whatever that may mean, but I am enough of a Bad Person to hope that he feels like shit.

    For six months, at least.
    :naughty:
  • I’d like him to have a Boris Johnson like experience - ill enough to learn that Covid is dangerous, but survive.
  • Amanda B ReckondwythAmanda B Reckondwyth Mystery Worship Editor
He and Pence should both be put on ventilators. Then Nancy Pelosi would be President. :yum:
  • Did any of you and me think it was good when Osama Bin Laden was killed? Did it make any of us bad people if we did?
  • I don't wish anything bad on T or Pence. But, if they become unable to do their jobs, I'd do a happy dance for Nancy taking over! :) Of course, there are probably already people saying that she is somehow behind all T's sickness, so she can take his job.

  • {Gives Miss Amanda a kit of smelling salts, chocolate, ear plugs, and a novel to get her through the horrid experience. Plus Chiclets gum bits with which to pelt B-i-L (to drive him away, or to occupy his mouth with chewing), in case he is over-bearingly rude. And various "warding off" symbols.

    All in a vintage, beaded organza bag, lined with satin that is lightly scented with Miss Amanda's favorite scent.}

But I read it on the internet -- it must be true!

Thanks for the correction. I stayed up way too late doomscrolling after I saw the initial news, and my judgement was clearly impaired.

Favorite scent being incense, of course.

Actually it wasn't bad. Both sister and B-i-L were relatively silent re the whole affair. They didn't even react when I chimed in with "He made his bed, now he can lie in it." Of course, I didn't add that lying is perhaps his greatest talent.

What sort though? Even incense comes in multiple scents.

Yes, I know. Most liturgical incenses will do. I'm not picky.
  • I imagine Miss Amanda would eschew Orange Blossom Incense, though...

(Apparently there is such a thing - A*a*o* sell sticks of it).

Or free but with fines so heavy that they'll take the rest of his life and more to pay back so he has to live out his days in the lowest decile of income in the US.
  • He'll just take fines as something else to avoid paying income tax.

He's not smart, but his accountants are. I want him to live out a long life in prison, making 34 cents an hour working in the laundry.

Do all former Presidents have Secret Service Protection? If so would this mean Trump would have to be protected, even in jail?
  • Solitary confinement would be an easier option to keep him safe.

Thanks to President Obama, former Presidents receive Secret Service protection for life. I believe they can relinquish it if they wish.

Formerly it was for a period of years -- I don't know how many. I was once standing in front of a certain hotel in Los Angeles and who should walk in but Jimmy Carter. Unaccompanied.
  • Slight tangent: There's a movie called "Guarding Tess", with Shirley MacLaine as a widowed first lady wrangling with her Secret Service detail. Much of it is very funny.

Former presidents had lifetime protection from 65 to 96; Clinton signed a bill limiting protection for his successors to 10 years. Obama signed the Former Presidents Act of 2012 reinstating it, starting with W. One president did relinquish protection - but that was Nixon, not Carter (who still has it.)
  • Amanda B ReckondwythAmanda B Reckondwyth Mystery Worship Editor
I stand corrected, but all I can say is that Carter was very much alone when he entered the hotel I was standing in front of.
  • Sometimes leaders ditch their guards.
  • I stand corrected, but all I can say is that Carter was very much alone when he entered the hotel I was standing in front of.

The best guards are perfectly capable of doing their jobs without you ever realising they're there. Until you get too close, of course...
  • Amanda B ReckondwythAmanda B Reckondwyth Mystery Worship Editor
I couldn't have gotten closer. I was standing next to the front entrance to the hotel, when Carter approached on the sidewalk and entered the door. He even nodded and said "Hi" to me. No one followed him in, and no burly men in black suits were hovering about.
  • This is like the elephant traps in my garden, very efficient.
