Glitter still earns money from something that led directly to his abuse of vulnerable children. It will also cause huge offence to the families and friends of those who were abused.

I question the "led directly". Being a performer does not lead anyone to commit crimes. (You might argue that the cult of celebrity is a bad thing because it can lead "celebrities" to think they're above right and wrong, but that's a bit different. )

Why not say that he was born in Banbury and his upbringing there led directly to his crimes, so we should all boycott Banbury and treat with suspicion anyone from there ?.

You appear to be wilfully misunderstanding @Rufus T Firefly . His perfectly cromulent argument is that it was Glitter's musical career that enabled his access to children, and allowed his crimes to go unreported or disbelieved for so long. It's a pattern that repeats itself so often as to be almost universally known.

The original crimes of which Gadd was convicted were with respect to child pornography. He was subsequently convicted of child sex offences in Vietnam. Neither of these offences, nor the large collection of Fat East countries who have either expelled him or denied him entry, are directly related to his musical career. His music has been basically banned everywhere since the child porn discovery.

Much more recently, Gadd has been convicted of historic child sex offences that do relate directly to his music career.

Yes, but nothing you've said contradicts anything I've said.
