  • Which leads naturally, if a bit too predictably, to Liverpool Lime Street.
  • I fancy going to Rannoch Moor.
  • Is that allowed under Covid rules? That nice Ms Sturgeon could get nasty!

Better to go to Southport (Lord Street).

There is that, but since I'm physically located in Scotland, mentally I wasn't leaving the country & therefore breaking border restrictions. Southport however will get you out of that loop.

Anyhow, enough of that, and off to Moor Park.

... and hence to Piccadilly Circus

    Well done. Loop initiated.

    Manchester Picadilly

Three Green Chips at Oxford Road, but of course only for the next two rubbers.

Oxford Circus and all transverse diagonals and shunts in or through it are of course in Nidd.

Which means I can get to Birmingham New Street without having to go all the way round through Norwich, Colchester, Gravesend, etc, etc (you get the picture).

    I think I'll have a croissant - oo-er.
  • Bow Street (you couldn't do that before yesterday).
  • KarlLBKarlLB Shipmate
    That helps.

    Down Street

This should avoid the Dollis Hill Loop.
  • South Kentish Town. (FYI Bow Street is a new station near Aberystwyth which opened on Sunday).

    King William Street

Reverse shunt there - about 120 years.

I've just found a purple chip down the back of the sofa, which will just about take us to

    Hammersmith
  • The new(-ish) Wood Lane station looks kind of cool.

I'm playing a free move to my nearest tube stop, so Wimbledon.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Don't you realise that Wimbledon only comes out of Spoon for a fortnight in June/July?

    Knightsbridge
  • NazianzusNazianzus Shipmate Posts: 16
Yes, but the cancellation last year opens up an automatic free carry over to any open diagonal. Same also applies to the cancelled Queens Club from last year, so immediate return to

    Barons Court
  • In the meantime, off to Blackfriars in search of some Dominicans.
  • And thence to Abbey Wood for the Augustinians.
  • Unfortunately we are unlikely to find Carmelites at Whitechapel.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    How about White City?

Or Redbridge? (You can choose between the Central Line or Southampton).
  • And that suggests the next move should be Green Park
  • A nice day for a walk to St James Park. Bring duck pellets.

  • St James. Bring your black-and-white football scarf (once lockdown is over).
  • And if you desperately need to feed some ducks, there's always Leazes Park next door. Which is much closer than Birkenhead Park which is where I was going to send you before I realized we were talking about Newcastle and not Liverpool.
  • After over two weeks in Nidd, I'll send you near Newcastle-under-Lyme with Stoke-on-Trent

One hesitates to ask what you did to get stuck in Nidd for two weeks....

Meanwhile, Oakham is a-calling. With its level crossing.
  • And its Airfix/Dapol signal box: http://www.airfixrailways.co.uk/SignalBox.htm.

Meanwhile we'll go south to Carshalton Beeches.
  • Jog a bit north to Tooting Bec.

(And welcome back from Nidd Net Spinster. I was seriously worried about what that New Holland move upthread might do to the MTA, but perhaps its effects were more widespread than anyone expected...)
  • Berach Junction Cabin (BEC) in Chittorgarh. (Nidd was 19 days without home internet)
  • Indeed, welcome back from Nidd.

Anywhere in the London area - so you can use your Oyster Card.

Alternatively, you could (once) catch the "Crab & Winkle" to Brightlingsea.
  • All we could move to the south coast and Brighton. Oysters at English’s (once it reopens).
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    Hove (obviously)
  • Lake (Isle of Wight) - temporarily closed for line upgrade bus replacement.
  • Seascale
  • Canada Water. Tagliolini ai gamberi is apparently available at the nearby cafe of the same name. Pick up 3 blue chips and play the Temperance card.
  • Might need to go to Waterloo afterwards.

Perhaps on St David's day it, would be appropriate to head to Pwllheli
  • Or Machynlleth? As a tad nearer St David's?

You'd be better going to Fishguard & Goodwick, though the Welsh language might be less prominent.
  • That's because I think of it as Abergwaun as that's what the signs and locals called it when I walked-ish the Pembrokeshire Coast Path a few years back. And to get between there and Pwllheli you have to change at Dovey (Dyfi) Junction, or as they prefer Machynlleth, because there is big fat zero at Dovey. Good for bird spotting though.

Well, you don't always need to change at Machynlleth. But you do need to change at Carmarthen (Caerfyrddin) and Shrewsbury. Oh for the Manchester and Milford Railway!

Someone had to, and it happened to be me. Sorry about that.
