Not to mention those of us who are almost bored to death by the constant rugby and cricket news. It's really difficult to avoid when all you're waiting for is the weather forecast.
Having said that, after the quakes here it was months before a game of rugby could be played in Christchurch as the main stadium was a write off and the ground in other places was uneven or subject to liquefaction. When a match was announced I shocked a friend by being honestly pleased it was happening. While I didn't want to see it, I knew for many people it was a sign that normal life was returning, and and important for their mental health.
I do remember, back in the days of Radio 1-4 and local radio being your lot, and three telly channels, my father opining that there should be dedicated sports radio and telly channels, and the sport programmes put on there. Then the sporty types could get their fix and everyone else's programmes wouldn't be cancelled because the North East Rutland Debenhams League Division 5 Five-a-Side touch football final went into extra time.
We got the extra channels. We didn't get the freedom from it on the mainstream ones. I still can't understand why the Today programme will happily talk to some boring fart about Widnes' chances against Runcorn in the light of injury problems last season and [insert name I've never heard of here]'s "form" for what seems like half an hour, but an interesting story about the discovery of a pulsar on the other side of the Milky Way gets ten seconds, three inane questions and a "I'll have to leave you there" as soon as it gets interesting.
Regards Car Racing: Formula 1 cars use ethanol which is pure corn alcohol, not petrol. Same with professional drag racing machines. Stock car racing uses a mix of petrol and ethanol. Motorcycle racing uses high octane petrol.
I do wonder, with the conversion to EV vehicles how that is going to change motor racing.

You’ve posted exactly the same thing twice @Gramps49, without apparently noticing Leorning Cniht’s post.
