  • Can you stop now please? I mean, really.

  • Thank you so much, one and all, for raking me over the coals for not reading every single, solitary word of this thread. My severe lesson was just in time! I might have missed some of the last four pages if I had continued to skim and it certainly would have been a tremendous loss.

I can finally understand why the moderators have relegated the TICTH thread to All Saints. It was to make more room for this.
  •

You may well be right - I'm only surprised that a Host hasn't been along yet, to put this load of drivel-clicks out of its misery.

Twilight, I was not one of those lambasting you for not reading the complete thread, and I honestly can't blame you for skipping much of it!

    Are you back?
  • I never left, rodent brain. I know it must be hard for someone who types in rhythm with their heartbeat to imagine this, but for many people it's possible to just read and not say anything for days at a time.
  • You just KNOW they're sitting in the Hosts' lounge drinking whiskey and betting on when you'll finally realize the only way to stop the thread is for you personally to stop posting on it...

While you're busy with this, all the idiocy (hey, Twilight!) is corralled in one place.
  • Types rhythm with my heartbeat? What does that even mean?
  • This is Hell.

    There is no meaning.

    To anything.

    Especially SusanDoris.

Suffering myself from Oblique Joke Syndrome, I suspect that it was meant to be a play on the proportionally high heart rate of small mammals and your similarly high posting rate.

    Ha.             Ha.
  • Pretty consistently shitty.

    Give it up already.

Well it could be about you, Fineline.

I always find it surprising the supreme confidence some people have when visiting Hell, never feeling the slightest need to don their flame proof jammies, because the torches would never, ever turn in their direction. After all Fineline is just here to give helpful advice to those less fortunate in social graces and communication skills.

Anyone who is tired of doing parodies of Doris's style could try Fineline's for a change.

I'm not talented at this the way Mr. Cheesy is but I'll give it a try:

Fineline, I don't know if it will help, but you might want to check your posts over for hints of a patronizing tone, or smugness, if you will. Of course I use the word, "patronizing" only in its most helpful form, based on it's original root "patron," meaning a person honored as a special guardian or teacher.

I am saying this from a desire to be helpful, because consistently giving helpful advice to others might make one suspect that you felt superior to them in almost every way thus qualified to be so... helpful.

I am also reiterating all that the hosts and moderators have ever said, as I feel they need echoing whenever possible.

    Hope this has helped!

I don't don any flame-proof stuff, but I'm well aware my posts and myself could be mocked at any time. I'm used to mockery - my social skills aren't the greatest and people do mock me. I don't come here to fight though, so wouldn't be interested in making a war of it. But feel free to make a hell thread to mock me if you like.
  • mousethief wrote: »

In rhythm with your heart beat. Meaning only, as long as you're alive you're posting. Nothing any deeper than your stating-the-obvious post to me and nothing to do with a mouse's fast heart rate.

Nah. There's really not much to work with, you just happened to say "helpful" a lot in your last post to Doris. Poor fodder, really, even Mr. Cheesy probably couldn't do much with it.

Do you think I came here to fight? Nope, not my intention at all.
  • Jesus, Mary and Joseph on a piece of weevil-infested hardtack floating on an oil slick in the Bermuda Triangle in a Cat 5 ice storm while picking oakum, help us.

Twilight, honey, could you just call yourself to Hell, since clearly nobody else is biting and you're spoiling for it? But start a new thread for that, huh? Pretty please?

Really? I come along and make a joke about why TICTH has been moved, just an ordinary joke on a thread that had turned into joking and I'm "spoiling for a fight?"

Then Mousethief makes his snide "Are you back?" and Fineline suggests all the past pages of insulting parody has been about me and you think I am spoiling for a fight.

Yes, I respond in kind to insults, but I don't call that spoiling for a fight, I call it sticking up for myself. I hate to say "They started it," but they did.

I actually thought my response to Fineline's insult about the thread being about me was too harsh, so my last post to her was meant as an apology. I guess you didn't get that.

In the meantime, I'll just ignore your junior hosting and post on this thread when I feel like it.

Interesting interpretation of my post. I was referring to the fact the thread kept changing focus, not suggesting that the whole thing had been about Twilight (if it had, there would be no confusion!).. One minute any mockery/irritation is aimed at SD, then Twilight makes an appearance and it switches to her, then back to SD, then suddenly switches to magnilo, and then Twilight makes an appearance again to talk about perceived attacks on herself, so the focus switches again. So it no longer seems a thread devoted to SD. Separate threads for separate people would certainly be easier to follow, but at least it's all contained here!

This thread has given me a fresh appreciation for the hell hosts who have to 'circle the drain,' as Doc Tor put it.

It's all obvious now: this thread exists as a sprawling conspiracy to erode Doc Tor's last nerve. Well played, everybody.

What a crying shame you do it so poorly.
  • Hmmm...1.3k posts on this thread. Susan posts well, she's an atheist, and she's not posting the way many of you seem to read her.

Some time back, there was a Purg thread that devolved into fussing about Susan. "Oh, she's an atheist." Well, yeah. Lot of different beliefs/attitudes o the ship. "She doesn't engage, and doesn't say XYZ." Except she did, right on the first page of that thread. "Well, she disrespects us and our beliefs." No, she doesn't. She asks questions, listens to the answers, and mentions her own ideas. She doesn't chew on anyone. She doesn't try to get you to sign your faith away, either.

But, if she had, this is a Ship of Christian Unrest.. Says that right on the label. So we should be able to cope with* atheists, agnostics, Breathairians, Pastafarians, Merovingians, Dead Heads, Sufis, Hassids, Forteans, Shintoists, Techno Mages, followers of Egyptian deities, and someone who just had their very first religious thought.

On the occasion mentioned, after much wrangling, someone replied that I didn't have to defend Susan anymore, because "she's one of us, now".

    Yeah, that really lasted. (eyeroll)

*No criticism of any group intended. Mentioned just to illustrate the diversity of beliefs among possible Shipmates.

Classic Ship of Fools rebuttal to an excellent post by Golden Key.

It translates to; "I don't agree with you, but I can't really explain why, so I'll just say you don't get the point, although I can't tell you what the point is, and I'll make a sly back handed snipe at someone else, can't really say who that is, bit too cowardly, but there! and I'm sure all the in-crowd agrees with me."

Echolalia. n. meaningless repetition of another person's words as a symptom of psychiatric disorder.

People with echolalia repeat noises and phrases that they hear. They may not be able to communicate effectively because they struggle to express their own thoughts. For example, someone with echolalia might only be able to repeat a question rather than answer it. In many cases, echolalia is an attempt to communicate, learn language, or practice language.

I wonder if toxic narcissism would cause an echolaliac to meaninglessly repeat their own words?

I think this thread has been quite illuminating! SusanDoris has demonstrated that she can vary from her usual posting formula of "Thank you for your post. Why do you think you are so deluded?" so that's been a step forward. Bishop's Finger and mr. cheesy have posted really funny comments. Twilight has taken a break from yelling at the parking meters in her town. So this has been all to the good, and I thank Doc Tor for his supreme patience with these antics.
