Would you please pray for my friend D? He has been hospitalized in ICU on a ventilator for almost 6 weeks due to Covid. His condition has worsened this week and we have been told that the next 24-48 hours will be crucial.

For my friends R and P - they've been told that P's cancer is extremely aggressive, and she's declining to talk to anyone, which is extremely worrying.
For me, that the annoying and inefficient CVS pharmacy chain that's taken over the excellent pharmacies in our local supermarket chain will finally get its act together and swiftly get me the blood pressure medication (something new!) that I was supposed to be taking by early yesterday evening and still don't have. (I need to look for a better pharmacy...)

I'm from Zimbabwe and grew up in a Scottish Presbyterian community as well as attending Catholic mission schools. A wonderful country and people for all the suffering.
I have not-great news of my own (please see the "Cancer SUCKS" thread in Hell for details), and would greatly appreciate continued prayers.
My friends R and P seem to be doing better, however - Deo gratias! His oncologist told them that it was bad, "but I've seen a lot worse." And she is much more cheerful, and has asked me for a good time to talk. That's progress!
My friend M will conduct a funeral next week for a woman who has been in great pain with various disabilities for a very long time. But first he must be with her and her family while she dies with medical assistance, as she has requested. He has not done this before and is nervous. He is a very good and caring minister, and will be grateful for our prayers while he cares for this family.
Some in the US are caught in the horrible situation of moving to campus; having the campus shut down; can't go back home; no money; can't get access to money for room and board already paid for. I read of one girl who was living in her car and actually, per her words, "starving".
Prayers needed for my youngest niece who has just been formally diagnosed with anorexia. She was a bit of fussy eater at the best of times, so the road back to health is not going to be fun for her or any of the family.

My dear friend Sarah's husband, Rabbi Yudi Dukes is being discharged next week after more than six months fighting and recovering from SARS-Cov-19.
He still has a long road of rehab and family therapy ahead but the fact that he will be able to leave NYU on his own two feet next week is nothing short of a revealed miracle.
Thank you everyone who included his name in your prayers. I am in real tears of gratitude at this news.
Hurray! Continued healing for him, safety and relief for his wife, and safety and relief for you, too.

Thank you my dear friend. It's such a relief for everyone, and though there's still a long slope ahead, it's so much gentler an incline with fewer troughs and valleys.
Sometimes, it's helpful to do an "everyone" prayer. "Bless everyone", etc. You don't have to think of any individuals. Especially good if praying for specific people is apt to do your head in, which would give God extra work to do...and she's an essential worker, and already overloaded.
If that doesn't work, consider how much worse things will get if he gets severely ill--or dies.
Tangent. Currently I'm rereading Julian of Norwich. Early on she says that it is better to focus on Jesus, and give thanks to him, then get bogged down in petitions. Much as I admire and respect her, I'm not sure about this. By thinking of specific people and their needs, I keep myself compassionate. Or so it seems to me.
I've been doing the "everyone affected" prayers for seven months.
There's no need to alter that because someone with the best health care in the U.S., who has already not only ignored but made fun of those who wear masks and take precautions, has finally come down with it.
May I ask for prayers for G., the Bishop of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, who I heard has been put on indefinite medical leave? I don't know any details, but he's about my age (late 50s, so Not Old), and "indefinite" sounds rather ominous.
