  • Thanks for your interesting report.

It raised an entirely practical question in my mind. Given how constrained the village of Widcombe is in its valley setting, and how narrow many of its street are, where did a congregation of 500 people park their motor vehicles? They cant all have walked or cycled - can they? - and the bus service thereabouts is not at all wonderful.
  • You're right - the chapel has very limited parking out the back (now the front). I parked there because I was early and was fiercely questioned, but then welcomed when I said I was coming to the service. Parking in the streets of Widcombe is unrestricted on a Sunday, so that is what everyone does, but I did get the impression a lot of people walked.
  • And I daresay lifts were given to those unable to walk, or simply to reduce the size of the parking problem!
