D now has gangrene in her legs, and there is no treatment for it, apart from antibiotics: there is no cure. She is too frail for any surgical intervention. We have been told that she has, at the outside, 3 months to live, and it is more likely to be a matter of weeks. This was not a surprise to her son, but nonetheless a shock. She will be having regular visits from the chaplaincy team, which she has welcomed.
She is eligible for continuing NHS end of life care. Nursing home has been suggested, but also back to my place, with much more care attendance. I think a nursing home would be better from the point of view of having professionals around all the time, and activity going on, but her son wants to be able to be with her as much as possible, which I understand.
How very sad in so many ways, Penny S. Do try to set something up for yourself over this next while as you have been through so much. Prayers for stable quiet days.
He is blaming himself for having failed her, and needs much support. What he could have done is beyond me. And it is clear from both the district nurses and the doctor, that this is not an uncommon way of leaving.

Today I (finally!) got some potentially good news: My insurance company finally agreed to pay for the testing for a study my oncologist thinks will help - and I've qualified for it. (Who knew that a cancer could mutate so much and so quickly? Not I!) I will meet with the research oncologist on Monday. I hope it can buy me more good time, but the information they gain will surely help others.
Would anybody like to pray for a massively cranky bitch? I mean me. It's been several days, and I don't seem to be getting the better of it. And God help the people who live with me!
Taking a wedding today for my friends, Scott and Rosie. Lots of stress and tension behind the scenes, as is entirely natural. May everything go well, and it be a happy day for all (or as many as possible!).

M is more than half expecting a phone call in the night from the hospital, because of the state D was in when he was with her earlier. He has had nights like this before. Coping with the swings in expectation is really difficult. He was distraught last night, but fortunately had a helpful phone conversation with a friend. I feel completely inadequate.

@Penny S - don't. You have gone over and above for M and D. Be a bit kinder to yourself
Praying for @Rosswiesse, for @Lamb Chopped, for @Sipech, for @Alex Cockell for the Beaky family and for others. For the peace of God which passes understanding, in all our ups and downs.
I could use some prayers. Things in divorceland are being particularly challenging, and just as the semester is beginning. It’s quite difficult to focus when all of this is going on.
I have just heard from our daughter that despite this being a planned admission to hospital poor Little Beaky is now very unwell indeed. The medics are not sure what is going on and our daughter has a six week old baby and a hideous migraine too!
Actually, I have something that works when in the car. As part of the getting used to the new one (and the killer of my old one is persisting in not paying, but that's by the way) I copied a lot of Melvyn Bragg's radio programs on to an SD card (a reader for which I would not have put on my must have list) and we get engrossed in the Ediacaran Biota, or the Alexandrian Library, or Renaissance Astrology, and discuss the implications. I hadn't thought of that as an answer to prayer, but it clearly is.
Prayers for the rest of people here, especially the Beakies.
Thank you for your prayers.
Little Beaky is stable but is having to have an ECG every two hours- he was actually admitted to hospital in order to monitor his neurological issues but this has taken precedence.
Wait and see yet again!
