You may be right!
Further evidence that the Electric Interweb can read your mind: on Sunday my sister and I ran into a friend whom I hadn't seen in over 10 years. We had a nice chat, and I thought no more of it. I made no mention of it on any social media; I don't know whether or not she's on Facebook.
The next morning, her son (who I haven't seen for nearly 30 years, when he was a little boy) was suggested by my FB feed in "people you might know".
This thread will soon have more groans than Gormenghast.
OK, I'll fetch my own coat ...
Woke up to a prettily (but annoyingly) white world this morning but thankfully, unlike Canadian sn*w, it doesn't seem to be stopping long.
I went into town and had a very pleasant mini-Shipmeet with Firenze, and I don't know if it was my imagination, but Princes Street seemed very ... unbusy.
On the way back, I was beginning to think that the Almighty looks down on Edinburgh and says to himself, "oh look, there's Piglet, she's about to get off a bus - time to turn on the celestial taps".
It's not very far from the bus stop to S's house, but I had to utilise the hair-dryer when I got in.
God seems to favour the whole of Wales as the Celestial Taps (not to mention the Celestial Fan) seem to have been turned on frequently over the last weeks and months.
We not only have buses but I saw the first of our brand new electric buses this morning, not yet in service. I look forward to travelling on them (although they won't probably be on our route); quite apart from the pollution and noise aspects electric power is good for buses as, unlike with diesel engines. you get maximum power on starting.
Well, I would have, if I could walk to the top of the hill to the bus stop...
In any case, I couldn't do so at the moment, as yet another Very High Tide is confining me to the Ark for the afternoon.
Looking on the bright side, this sort of thing gives me a good excuse not to be anywhere else, or, if I should be anywhere else, to cheerfully outstay my welcome in that place.
I'm rather partial to the Edinburgh trams, when I need to be in places where they go. I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but I'm rather looking forward to turning 60 (I've a couple of years to go) and getting my free bus/tram pass.
Now trams are a civilised form of transport ... once 'they've' finished the seven years of digging up the roads that seem to be required before they can run.
Definitely not an elderly Piglet even with a Bus Pass. Of course, in Scotland you get a Pass at 60; south of The Wall we have to wait until state pension age.
Sorry for spoiling the mood - the Coronation Chicken virus situation over here on the Continent appears to getting from bad to worse, peak in Continental WesShire is expected for mid to end of May only. Guess we'll batten down the hatches pretty fast.
Shall we start a 'Going Viral' kind of thread in All Saints, to bemoan the fact that everything used to be better when we were young(er), and for a little mutual support? Just wondering.

Ground works complete, including services, etc. This afternoon the crew will finish off stuff in the kitchen .
Monday morning we get delivery of the SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels), just so long as it isn't raining. The builder assures me that it should all go up in one day.
East Sussex had its first case of coronavirus confirmed this am, in Eastbourne.
That's still 15 miles away from us, but now our local bus route has infected souls living at either end.
There are 2 cases in my local area, and another 9 in the rest of the county (Kent). One school, not far from me, was closed for 'deep cleaning' last week, a pupil having tested positive, but I don't know offhand if it's reopened.
Everything seems to be going on much as usual, despite the shortages of soap and loo paper, though I expect the customary Sunday sports may be cancelled.
I daresay our Parish Mass on Sunday will be a bit thinly-attended, though we don't have many elderly folk now. One or two of those are on official sick leave, anyway, following (or preceding) hospital treatment, but I think our Most Devoted Old Gentleman, Uncle H (aged 96), is now reluctantly under house arrest by order of his daughter (with whom One Does Not Argue).
I have been working from home since Wednesday after we had a case confirmed in the office next door with which we share facilities. Things are OK so far.
As things stand I am in the "work from group" as i) I can do so, ii) I'm over 60, iii) have underlying health issues and iv) have to use public transport, at least two days a week.
Today we have a big party at the church. One of our leading lights turns forty so by getting together I wouldn't be surprised to find the meeting a week on Sunday cancelled.
My NF church has just sent out the weekly newsletter and we will no longer have communion or coffee, and no handshakes, laying on of hands, etc. I’m happy with that decision, I’ve been offloading my views about shared communion to my bible study group for several weeks. The email suggested worship songs for handwashing or the Lord’s prayers
Our 2 services are quite large, approx 250/150, so I expect we may have to move online at some point.
I teach 2 face to face tutorials a year and one was supposed to be next week but uni has cancelled it; I presume I will be asked to do it online instead. I’m in the unusual position for a uni lecturer of online being the norm so actually easier.
@Heavenlyannie - Our Place would find 'no communion' a bit of a problem, given our sacramental Anglo-Catholic tradition and practice.
BUT - having said that, there's no reason why we could not continue to meet - perhaps in small groups, whether at home, or in the church - for the Offices of Morning/Midday/Evening/Night Prayer.
Hopefully, by Easter, we could receive the Sacrament again, perhaps with fresh enthusiasm, and devotion!
My Zumba class leader wouldn't take my ticket from me at the lunchtime class. I thought she was joking at first but no - I had to put it down on a shelf. I asked what she was going to do then and she planned to spray it with sanitiser before touching it.
My sister's been hunting for hand sanitisers for a few days now (without success) but she did manage to get some bars of soap without (a) paying £3 for it; or (b) having to buy Dove, which she doesn't like (I'm with her on that - I don't like it either).
There was, however, a modicum of loo roll available in Marks & Sparks (although she'd already bought some in Aldi).
Before going shopping, we had a lovely, if somewhat muddy, walk around the reservoir with my niece and Larry the Labradoodle, who (despite getting absolutely filthy) charmed the socks off everyone we met - human and canine. 🐕
I have topped up my sanitiser bottles with surgical spirit.
Aldi had a notice asking customers not to put money in their mouths before handing it over at the till!
I lead an Open the Book team and have received an email from the Head Office saying not to go into schools now, at least till after Easter. I’m guessing they’re worried about the majority of us Open the Bookers being ‘of a certain age’ 😬!
The big Morrison's at Liberton was untowardly heaving for a weekday, and scarcely a trolley - bar ours* - but had one or more multiple packs of loo roll.
I gave up trying to buy hand sanitiser, so have made my own from 2/3 surgical spirit (not high enough % alcohol in vodka) 1/3 aloe vera gel and a few drops of tea tree oil.
I did this last week, so I expect the ingredients are now impossible to get, even if you queue half a mile down the road to get into a pharmacy.
I've had a travel-size and a larger bottle of sanitizer, both of which are slowly depleting. I had the brilliant idea today of checking the toiletry bag I use when I travel* -- and found an almost full travel-size bottle! (I also always have a supply hand wipes and still have quite a few left.)
*Won't be needing that for a while. A trip I had planned for April was just cancelled.
On the recommendation of a Danish friend I bought a bottle of 45% alcohol sanitiser this morning that he says is very effective, especially when taken internally. It is called aquavit. Now I've had to cancel my trip to Scotland in two weeks I think I'm going to need it.

Hopefully, The English Empire will still be open for business when you return to these shores.
@Boogie - as I said, enjoy your stay! Germany is, ISTM, a good place in which to be at the moment, no matter what.
But Echo must be missing you.

I durst not think what you left unsaid.

At least the rain has shifted most of the sn*w.

IYSWIM.
The idea was to use some existing railways, along with new street running, which would have resulted in something like the Croydon system.

Yes, good idea.

Or stay - would there be other people likely to touch the ticket after her?

*we had quite a lot of Drink.

TBH I don't care what they call it - the smell of it makes me feel ill. I'll have to live with skin that feels like sandpaper!
