Please pray for my dear friend R, and for her husband/soulmate, P. P has been diagnosed with late-stage colon cancer; he has had surgery, and will start chemo on the 29th (the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels, may they cover him with their protective wings).
R suffers from depression, and P has been her strong rock. (As if this weren’t enough, her mother just died a couple of months ago.) She’s already distraught, and I am seriously concerned about her.
And asking prayer for my Giraffe, who today I will leave at Aberdeen University as a palpitating newbie. Since his experiences in SA he has changed course from studying sports science to International Relations and Sociology - quite a difference. But this past year has made quite a difference to him, so thanks fo all the prayers which have supported him and me in these months of growth.
Little Beaky is home! There is still a problem with his feeding tube which has been loosened by all the coughing and they are awaiting an urgent appointment about it but his chest is clearing well. 😍
Thank you for your support

Urgent prayers for my friend, risen very deeply depressed this morning. Previous attempt at posting this vanished completely, not even a draft, which the superstitious side of me is worried about.
Prayers for all Scottish students (and others, but I don't think the rUK ones have been banned from pubs and restaurants) who are living very restricted lives just now and not feeling very happy about it. Most of them are trying really hard to be good, but it is worrying for them.
Indeed, Cathscats - not the sort of student life they'd planned. My sister and I were talking about that last night, and thinking how utterly awful it must be, especially for first-year students, moving to a strange place, having to isolate from their peers, and with no chance of going home for a weekend* (or possibly even going home for Christmas).
* Coming from Orkney, we accepted that once we were away for the term in September, that was it until Christmas - going home for a weekend wasn't an option, as it would have been for people who'd travelled from other parts of the mainland. I was lucky that with the outlay of £10 on a student railcard, I could afford to go from Aberdeen to Edinburgh for the odd weekend and visit my brother and sister.
I think the will be allowed home by Christmas, though I know it is not guaranteed. My beloved and very sensible daughter, (shrill, but sensible) was planning to come home for a week to catch up on her studies as there are fewer distractions here than in a big flat I. Edinburgh (not uni accommodation) so is peeved. The irony is that Mr Cats has today gone to Aberdeen by bus (free for him) as the cheaper option to posting to the Giraffe all the things he wished he had packed (especially when one of them is weights). He can’t go into the building, of course, but they can meet up. Would the embargo on coming home remain, there is currently nothing to stop us going to stay in a hotel in either city to see our offspring for a few days.
NB the not going out to eat/drink is now clarified as bing just this weekend, for now.

Thank you.

For friends having a difficult time.
For me: Dealing with overwhelm, and fear about the future; health flareups; and a grab bag of private intentions.
Thx.
