Duckduckgo "Ryan Wesley Routh" for some intriguing photos.
I did. What am I missing about them being intriguing?
Well, I was interested in his vexillological interests as a possible clue to his politics(which actually seem fairly establishment). Though, mostly I was just entering his name into the record.

Do you mean the stuff about Ukraine and Haiti, like from this Guardian article?

Yeah. As far as Ukraine goes, he seems to have been pretty passionate about the cause. I'm thinking the Marjorie Taylor Greene types will emphasize that, because pro-Ukraine tends to be a more Democratic position.
Though apparently Routh voted for Trump in 2016, and his political affiliations since then have been all over the map.
...I was interested in his vexillological interests as a possible clue to his politics...
Based on what I just read in the Guardian, the photos with all the flags were likely related to a display he wanted to erect in Kiev, featuring flags from all over the world, and surround with a human chain of international volunteers. Not sure if those photos show the actual display, or just a facsimile.
I'm cynical enough to wonder at this point if the Tr*mp/V*nce campaign is so desperate for the sympathy vote that they're going to keep staging assassination attempts: "the only way to truly protect Tr*mp is to make him POTUS again."

You know, if you have a specific item in mind, post the specific link. Don't expect us to be mind readers.
Sorry. I can't do links on my phone. Shoulda just said what the photos were.
If you don’t want to type in what’s needed to make specific text a hyperlink, you can just copy and paste the link. It’ll show up as a hyperlink. Like this:

I had the same thought 🤔
If they staged it, it wouldn't be someone who voted for Trump last go around. And it would probably be a minority.

Did he actually fire any shots? If not, is he guilty of anything but trespass (OK, trespass with a gun...)?
Reports I’ve read say he did not, but did have the gun’s muzzle pointed in Trump’s direction. Given basic gun safety principles (don’t aim at anything you don’t intend to shoot) this at least establishes intent, assuming the reports are accurate.
My trouble is that I read too many mystery stories. On learning that the suspect did not shoot the gun, my mind asks "Was the gun even loaded?" He had a webcam there. Maybe it was just a photo op, calculated to earn the All-Mighty "Clicks" that determine everything we do these days. You cannot attempt to assassinate anybody with an empty gun. But you can make a load of money with a viral video.
Assuming the gun was loaded, then my mind asks: "why assume that Trump was the target?" He was playing golf with somebody. Is it possible that that other person was the target? If so, why? A personal grudge? Or did Trump hate to lose against anybody, so he hired this guy to take out his opponent?
Assuming that doesn't pan out, then if the gun was loaded, and if the intent was to shoot in the direction of Trump, was the intention to kill him? Or just to make it look like somebody was trying to kill him? And, if the latter, was this an operation funded by those wanting to get Trump elected thinking that Yet Another Failed Assassination Attempt will somehow bolster Trump's electability now that he has lost the dog-eating Haitian vote?
And is it just a coincidence that this "attempt" happened just hours before "60 Minutes" did a feature critical of Trump with respect to the January 6 Insurrection? Or was it deliberately planned to take the sting out of the 60 Minutes feature?
And, finally, if the evidence is that the gun was loaded, and that the intent was to shoot at Trump, and if the intent was to kill him, then the next question is: Why do so many people exercising their Second Amendment rights want to kill Trump? Is he not popular with gun owners?
All of which is why I am still waiting for all the facts to come out. There are possibilities, albeit some pretty far out there. But facts will trim out the nonsense and reveal, in the final chapter, that the butler did it.
Why do so many people exercising their Second Amendment rights want to kill Trump? Is he not popular with gun owners?
Well, just because they're gun owners doesn't mean they neccessarily identify ideologically as members of the pro-gun movement. Open to correction, but I don't recall that the kid in Butler Penn. had expressed any strong views on gun control, for example.
What would happen if Trump died before the elections? Would J D Vance become the Presidential Republican candidate?
No, at least not automatically. Under Republican Party rules, either the Republican National Committee would choose a new candidate, or it would reconvene the Republican National Convention for the purpose of choosing a new candidate. That new candidate might or might not be Vance.

I heard about the GoPro cam and thought "a do it yourself Zapruder film".
I cannot say Trump isn't playing for a sympathy vote when he survives another assassination attempt. But I think he is bringing it on himself, considering the many times he said allegedly he would go after his opponents, locking them up, executing others, allegedly saying he would pay for his followers defense if they take out his opponents.
And,, now he is blaming Biden and Harris for all the hate speech they are allegedly using against him. Huh? This is pure narcissism,
And then, there is JD Vance. Allegedly saying he can make up any story he wants to get attention.
And,, now he is blaming Biden and Harris for all the hate speech they are allegedly using against him. Huh? This is pure narcissism,
Trump regularly projects onto others his own character traits or the behavior he engages in or would engage given the chance. They’re crooked. They cheated. They’re lying. They’re weaponizing the justice system. They’re using inflammatory hate speech.

He’s remarkably transparent.
Indeed.
Projection is quite common, even in people without narcissistic traits. But he cannot imagine people not abusing power because he always would. He assumes everyone is the same as him.
As has been said a lot about Trump and his acolytes, every accusation is actually a confession.
It is interesting how the only thing it's ever been described as is a full-blown assassination attempt. The conspiracy theorist I've mentioned a few times in other threads has shared with me some thoughts... I'll spare you all from them here, though.
In the UK news this morning there is evidence that using violence against others, because of some perceived provocation or insult, is on the increase. I’m not sure whether the trend is international. But I’m clear that there is a loss of respect for the value of resolving differences by peaceful discussion.
On top of this there is an increasing distrust of the processes used to identify the best available version of reality. Reality is, increasingly, politicised. Personally I think much of this trend has been caused by the increased use of spin by political advisers and the like.
There is a history behind both increasing despair about the value of objectivity and consequential increase in violent resources. And personally I don’t see any easy solution to both trends.
I see that the Teamsters have declined to endorse a candidate.
The National Teamsters have declined to endorse a candidate, but local teamster unions have the option to endorse whomever they like. The Michigan teamsters union has endorsed Harris. That is 'uge for Harris.
I see that the Teamsters have declined to endorse a candidate.
Congratulations to Nobody.
The way I see it, the National Teamsters Board leans Republican--after all the Chair spoke at the National Republican Convention. But local unions are pro Harris.
Now I have to ask who will the brothers and sisters listen to, national people who may negotiate big contracts, or local shop stewards who fight for the local concerns. Mixhigan has gone Harris. I bet Nevada will go Harris. If Wisconsin goes Harris, it's over.
Well, I don't want to make any assumptions. Many of us went to bed in 2016 believing we'd have another President Clinton the next day. And I've seen a lot of coverage of MAGA working to control election boards and Secretaries of State. And Republican legislatures have put a variety of voter discouragement/suppression legislation into place since 2020. And we know a violent takeover of at least the facilities of the federal government is possible if not likely if Tr*mp loses. And we already know he will not concede. I dunno. I'm hopeful for the election. I also dread the election.
If Trump wins the election and Biden dies soon after, will the USA have a leader that they have rejected at the polls ?
Could you rephrase this? I don’t get it either.
I'm assuming he means...
Trump wins.
Biden dies before the inauguration.
Harris becomes president.
The USA then has a leader, Harris, whom they had rejected at the polls.
BUT...
In your scenario, Harris wasn't rejected at the polls. She won the 2020 election as veep, ie. the person who takes over in the event of the president's death, and her term expires in January, regardless of who wins in November.
