  • I live in a senior Mobile Home Park, and our dear neighbor cooks brunch once a month on his patio and invites us all over. Brunch with many of my neighbors is on the agenda today.
    He always does a great job. I have a painting I might finish today, and I need to vacuum the house. It always seems to be dog hair, mostly. How can one small dog lose so much hair and not be bald?.

    Very early morning gardening
    Clean utility room
    Washing
    Pick sweet peas for vases
    Give a vase to my friend up the road
    Painting windows at the old chapel, soon to become an arts centre - nice and cool in the undercroft
    Take Mr Boogs to airport (he's off on another cycling adventure)
    Call at farm shop on the way home for cold meats and Somerset Brie quiche
    Do PP for Church
    Very late evening gardening

    No dog walks today - if anyone thinks dogs should be walked today they should also do it in a fur coat and no shoes.

    Bag Tryfan.
    Stand on Adam and Eve.
    Bag Glyder Fawr.
    See Castell y gwynt.
    Bag Glyder Fach.
    Play silly sods on the Cantilever.
    (Being precaffeinated, I may have my Glyders the wrong way round)

    If the car park is full, turn round, and go do Yr Reifl instead.

    Well, I only got as far as baggong Tryfan, but as its taken more than 30 years to get there I'm not complaining.

    Maybe you could just vacuum the dog???

    A friend is coming for tea this afternoon, so this morning I went out to buy Cake.
    I've just finished a scarf, so while I'm waiting for her to arrive, I've been browsing easy knitting patterns to make a throw for my new chair (I can do yarn over! I'm sure I can!)
  • It started out slow enough but rapidly picked up momentum.

    Morning dip in the sea.

    Out for our once a week Big Breakfast - full English at the local taberna.

    Puree and freezer portion the tomato sauce that was slow cooking overnight.

    Bicycle uphill through a solid wall of incoming Spanish tourists to pick up a couple of things I missed on yesterday's grocery shop.

    Sweep and mop the terrace in preparation for the summer canopy.

    Walk uphill with the trash and recycling.

    Wrestle the summer canopy into submission, set out furniture and hang mosquito nets.

    Glaze my third completed painting. https://imgur.com/gallery/la-cueva-en-colores-NFwMrjz

    Make Tinto de Verano

    Relax under canopy with iced glass of summer beverage.

  • @A feminine force

    I felt knackered just reading your list of activities!!! You certainly earned that beverage. I love you painting, the colours are lovely.

    Yesterday I thought I had not much on but managed to get a bit done

    Realised husband had overslept and got him up for son’s medical appointment
    Got son up and hurried him along so he could eat breakfast before leaving the house
    While they were gone, I vacuumed the family lounge, kitchen and eating area
    Managed 3 loads of washing and all hung out to dry
    Watched my favourite vlogs
    Swept up leaves in preparation for rain coming (keeping stormwater drain clear)
    Organised dinner
    When husband and son got home asked them about their appointment and pointed out a couple of problems not dealt with
    As it has been raining, I am having a nice slow day today, I did some vacuuming sorted out a blockage in the vacuum cleaner, but that’s it for me!!

    Went to a six month check up with my cancer surgeon (everything was fine, go back in six months)
    Ate lunch and played games with the friends who took me to the surgeon.
    Had an Al-anon meeting online by Zoom.

    Today's Wednesday isn't it? (In structureless retirement world, it can be hard to tell).

    So that's wait in for the Fish Van. Probably a couple more deliveries, of wine, and, er, more bottles.

    While doing that, put a loaf in the breadmaker, and have a go at home-made hummus.

    Grey and a bit breezy, but should go out and see what the garden is up to. Probably bring in some chunks of it to paint.

    Dinner will be one of the fishies, with fennel in Parmesan.

    Thanks :mrgreen: - original cat hasn’t yet been formally introduced to his henchkits - I am starting that at the weekend. (Momma cat had eight kittens so I think she was relieved when they started to go to their new homes, I have adopted a bonded pair.)
  • Twice a month, I take a trip to the shopping center with a helper who drives me and helps me carry the grocery bags. I visit the bank, market, this time a hairdresser, and a different market for their deli lunch plate. I get salmon, green beans, and potato salad all for just over nine dollars. I can make two meals out of it, so it's a real bargain.

    Find a sheepskin slipper. I am currently wearing one from each of the 3 pairs I own and, while both feet are warm, walking is decidedly lop-sided.

    Apart from a small top up shop and a hair appointment, nothing much done today as the heat addles my brain.
  • Heat does that to me too, @Puzzler. We are used to quite hot temperatures in Oz, but I recognise that other places do not experience it in quite the same way we do and when a heatwave strikes it's really unpleasant, particularly when homes are not constructed to cope with such conditions.

    Today I've not got much on the agenda,

    A couple of podcasts/vlogs
    Sweeping up outside because rain is coming tomorrow
    Washing the tablecloth and placemats, we managed to get chocolate birthday cake everywhere last night despite our best efforts
    Catch up with Cheery daughter when she gets home from work
    Mince out of the freezer for tonight's dinner
    Ring aged Aunt later this afternoon
    Chase Cheery son to do his medications (this doesn't usually hapapen, but I think he's distracted with birthday gifts).
    Other than that, a slow day

    Easier to talk about what I did today.

    Went to church.
    Ate a late breakfast with Mrs Gramps
    Went for a long drive
    Took pictures of several barns
    Showed Mrs Gramps a couple of hamlets the main road bypasses,
    Wrote a letter to the chairperson of the congregational property committee--encouraging the formation of a subcommittee to work toward the installation of solar panels. "
    Sent an email to assistant to bishop offering to help provide services to vacant churches on a temporary basis.

    Tomorrow

    Get an injection which I hope will ease sciatica nerve pain temporarily.
    Work on lawn
    Try to stay cool

    Another thick day in prospect - cloud cover and 22°C.

    I must get on and order a new washer/drier.

    Wimbledon starts today, so that's the afternoon taken care of.

    Belly pork and Singapore noodles for dinner.

    Just got back from a steroid injection with instructions to rest 24 hours. Still, I think I will go shopping this afternoon at Walmart to buy: a roll of electrical tape, a set of non slip pads for Mrs Gramps, leisure chair--keeps sliding back on our laminated floor, a room air freshener for our bedroom. Mrs Gramps has a very sensitive nose recently.

    • Answer niece about whether I will copy-edit her book, which I have no idea what it's about or what shape it's in (yikes);
    • Prepare script for tomorrow's recording studio session;
    • Pull together all the lectionary readings for 2026 in Vietnamese (youch!) and typeset them (get started, anyway);
    • Figure out how to fit a bunch of ribs and chicken Mr. Lamb just bought into an overstuffed freezer/fridge (grrrr);
    • appeal real estate assessment (are those people out of their minds? This house isn't worth a quarter of what they think it is);
    • Discuss D. Sayer's play The Devil to Pay with son;
    • Write cranky letter to U.S. immigration which has f*cked up one of our people's applications again.

    Finally British Gas have got back to me about the electricity supply ("we will be in contact by 10th June"). So the next thing to do is tell them I don't want to be supplied by them, and get back to Good Energy, which is my favoured provider.

    So far - receive delivery of washing machine.

  • I don't know if this happens to others, but most mornings I have my breakfast and think, Hmm not much happening today and then I find myself pottering around doing stuff.

    Today has been
    think about dinner and organise missing ingredients
    unload letter box
    check letter box, mail for daughter
    toss a few loads of washing into the machine and hang them up
    amuse cats with toys
    chase son to get moving for the day
    check video sharing for vlogs and videos, watch a couple and note others for later/tomorrow
    ponder closing auction items closing tonight -do I need that rug or not??
    Hopefully a quiet afternoon

    A lot of Waiting In this week - today, for grocery delivery, tomorrow for new washing machine, Friday for cleaning guy.

    But I can beguile the time by watching the street. A mechanical digger has just been delivered the other side of the road where they're demolishing the garden wall. Probably to create a parking space, but I'm sorry to see any patch of green disappear.

    Friday, new neighbours arrive downstairs, poor dears. I remember when we had to move out temporarily same years ago, during repairs. It wasn't even a whole house move, but even so we came back in January and were still taking cardboard boxes to the recycling at Easter.

    Load of laundry, weekly watering of houseplants, phone call to vet about dog's allergy, not responding as well to treatment. Eventually gave up and contacted new provider (Good Energy) to say I wanted to get my electricity from them in future, so I hope they'll do whatever's necessary.
    Went down to the bookshop where I have a little unit, on behalf of some of the other unit holders who haven't been getting their money. The lady in charge has been rather preoccupied because her husband is in hospital (he's getting better slowly now), but she really needs to get some help to get the accounts sorted.
