Yesterday the Devon Rex kitten from next door came over and practiced doing forward rolls on the ramp at my back door. Then he ran up to Aroha and hissed in her face. He was fortunate not to be thumped as she has been known to attack other cats, but she just stared at him as if to say, "Is that the best you can do?" He then climbed the fence to the other neighbours which fortunately put him out of her reach.
It's strange becuse he and Spooky (who lives along the road, but hangs out in my backyard) and he totally ignore each other.
Possibly stretching the intent of Purgatory a bit here, but the aforementioned blessing cat delivered herself of four kittens in the night - three born alive. Sadly, the mother seems confused and uninterested in feeding them, but our neighbour (who is part of a cat rescue group) has taken them for now and they will try bottle feeding right away. They'll try to reintroduce them to their mother when they are stabilised. She is awfully young to be a mother - barely more than a kitten herself.
We just got back from a week’s holiday and we had a cat sitter (friend) come in twice a day to feed Mochi the cat while we were away. She is a very affectionate, clingy cat and clearly missed us as she has hardly got off our laps since our return. This morning she has been on my lap for 2 hours since I gave her breakfast, purring away, and she has just sat on Mr Heavenly’s lap as he has now got up.
Mochi doesn’t usually disturb us at night but this morning she came into our room at 2.43am and asked us to get up and play with her. Presumably outside in the garden as the cat flap app records her as coming in from the garden 3 minutes before and she had been miaowing at our bedroom door before she went out. She is 10 years old not a kitten!
I did a foolish thing - I fed the visiting cat.
There's a lovely fluffy thing that uses the back gardens as a shortcut to somewhere - obviously well looked after. So I thought I would make a fuss of it, but I Would Not Feed It.
This went very well until I had a salmon fillet for dinner, and the skin went in the bin. Where the cat could smell it. So I let the cat have it, and now the cat is definitely my new best friend!
I had to keep warning my partner after we moved in together that he shouldn't do anything in regards to my cats that he didn't want to keep doing in perpetuity. But he's a soft touch, so they now have him as their second servant.
I accidentally dropped a semi-liquid treat on my kitten blanket, and now the kittens suckle the blanket as if it were a cat (there is no longer any trace of treat on it.). It’s very cute, but I am unsure if this is going to stop after the blanket goes through the wash or whether that’s it now.
Yeah, that would be a real problem. My relatives grow fruit, as do all the surrounding farmers. Dogs present no menace to peach trees! And I doubt their dogs leave their property.
Our dog has a great vertical leap and plucks figs off the tree in our back yard.

Cat distribution system works as intended.
