  • The tomb needs to be pretty big as a lot of people will want to spit on it.
  • The ballroom is quite large, I believe, and there will be room for a Huuge and Bigly Sarcophagus in the middle thereof, with plenty of space for queuing Spitters around it.

Just spit? I don't frequently wish to be male, but on occasion ...

I'm reminded of the long standing expansive proposals for Thatcher's tomb: dance floor down one side; urinal the other.

I think spit may have been a typo

Don’t worry, you can join in with a shewee.
  • Meanwhile, more threats from the wannabe Ruler Of The World:

Thought of that after I'd posted -- I have one stashed in my car for emergencies.

Is Donald Trump a single ongoing emergency, or a fresh new emergency every 10 minutes?
  • His wonderful mind seems to work at a fast pace, that's for sure.

It's incredible how he manages to finish a thought so quickly does he move onto the next.

And, now, it appears Trump has forgotten the name of the woman who gave him her Nobel Prize. The meeting happened just a few hours earlier.

Dementia? Or just not giving a flying one once he has what he wants?

Did you see the picture of Trump accepting the prize? It was the goofiest picture I have seen in a long time.

Most pictures of Trump are best avoided, but the ones I see all look goofy.

Anyone who paints his face orange, and sticks his hair on with glue, is bound to look goofy...

Though, of course, he hasn't got the peace prize. All he's got is a bit of bling.

That will give the orange toddler something to play with. "It's mine!! Mine!"

Do you think he can tell the difference?

No, I’m afraid there would still be the Scouring of the Shire.

Yeah, don’t get me started on that. Not as bad as what Jackson did to Faramir, but . . . .

I'd take Rob Richie, Bob Russell, John Hoynes, Arnie Vinnick or really any of the politicians in The West Wing over the current denizen of the Oval Office. Even the swivel-eyed loon Republicans like Speaker Haffley had principles and respected the constitution.

Well the USA imports most of its insulin from Europe, so if they wanted to hit back .... just saying.

From friends I have in the US with diabetes, the costs of insulin are already getting too high to be affordable. An additional cost if supplies from Europe were disrupted would mean that many people needing insulin would go without. It doesn't appear that Trump would care about some people in the US suffering, and dying, for lack of basic medicine (the entire US medical system seems to be designed to let some die as long as the insurance companies make profits), but I'd hope that European leaders would have more compassion than doing something that would have such impacts on ordinary people. War, even a trade war, should have limits to restrict harm to civilians.

Indeed, it wasn't a serious suggestion, more an illustration that Trump doesn't hold all the cards.
Targeting sick people would also probably qualify as a war crime.
  • Or would preventable deaths from diabetes (in the US) be regarded by Trump as 'collateral damage'?

    From Merriam-Webster:

The meaning of COLLATERAL DAMAGE is injury inflicted on something other than an intended target; specifically : civilian casualties of a military operation.

Well, yes - but I think people are trying (however clumsily) to express fears that may become reality.

Trump's tariffs - if imposed - will affect those on this side of the Pond, as well as his own folk.

The average cost per vile in the US is now $98.70. Medicare patients pay $35

Last year the United States was the largest insulin exporter in the world, with 50% of global insulin exports. We produce far more insulin than we consume domestically.

To me everything Trump is doing lately points to dementia. He reminds me of my mother as she headed towards the late stages of the disease. Anything or anybody who didn't do what she wanted was stupid. Surely someone behind the scenes ought to be taking away Trump's access to social media at the very least if not trying to bundle him off-stage.
  • Why is this deranged old toddler still allowed out in public? How does he manage to escape from his carers?
  • Because he's a social media/internet age figurehead for powerful people who get to use him for their own ends while keeping themselves safely in the shadows. He's got marketability, popularity, and loyalty with the masses (at least enough of them) which means he remains a valuable tool for them to wield for as long as he lasts. None of the rest of them have the recognition Trump has, which means they can't just ditch him.

I think this is very close to the truth. People like Steven Miller, Vince Hailey, and Natalie Harp would never get the time of day with the general public (See the 21 people who matter to Trump). In the American system, though, it is not a matter of having loyalty of the masses as much as it is with our term elections though. All that is needed is to have enough people to vote for you to throw the electoral college your way, then it is settled matter until the next presidential election. The only thing stopping you is the impeachment threat, but Trump has proven that is next to impossible twice. One other avenue is the 25th amendment which might be imposed if Trump's alleged dementia gets too pronouced.

    In "real or satire?" news:
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jan/19/kremlin-says-putin-invited-join-trump-gaza-board-of-peace
Possible explanations: Trump confused "board" with "bored" and made a list of people he could think of who are utterly uninterested in peace. Plain old "Minitruth" newspeak. Any more?
