  • My understanding, from research and from what I've seen published, is that nobody is going to intervene with this doe until she's dead--at which point I can contact the local eagle sanctuary and they'll take her body for the birds. But I'd prefer to put off that day...

Deer are specifically ruled out as subjects of interest for the MO Dept of Conservation and for agencies reporting to them, EXCEPT as creatures to be hunted, or when they become major nuisances and you want to get rid of them (read: kill them without waiting for deer season and a permit).

Looking at this you could feed hay or alfalfa or most kinds of legumes (presumably not dried.)
  • I see they eat acorns, which might explain why she's grazing in our backyard so much.
  • Dear Host please remove my post. I do not want grumpy on this thread. I meant this for Today I Consign To Hell

We talked to our son, who lives in Washington DC, earlier this afternoon. He reported that he and his girlfriend had gone to see the musical 1776 last night. (It seems to be getting staged a lot now, for the 250th.)

“Oh, that was one of my favorites when I was growing up,” I said. “How’d you like it?”

“It was good, but the seats were really small,” he answered.

“Oh, where was it?!” I asked.

    “Ford’s Theater.”

A theater built in the 1800s and a 6’5” son. I bet he did think the seats were small.

At least he wasn’t sitting in the president’s box.
