I don't know if this has been noted elsewhere on the Ship, but former Ship contributor Andrew Rumsey has a new job. I'm personally looking forward to him coming to work and minister in my area- he is a creative thinker and generally well-liked as a very popular and engaging bishop.

An irrelevant aside, but one of life's odd little connections... When rather young we would ride our bikes out to Radwell to play in the River Ivel that was mentioned in the linked article. I had never heard of the chalk river pilgrimage, but I clearly remember the mud! Dr Rumsey sounds like a tonic for the church.
'Strangely Warmed' was a book of his, which I find I still have - I liked it. So did someone else (in the blurb) - 'Pious claptrap and hand-wringing sanctimonious drivel. If that is what you are expecting you are going to be sadly disappointed. These meditations from a parish priest are witty, erudite, self-deprecating, eloquent and thoughtful. They are even quite short. Strangely Warmed? Yes, actually I was.' None other than the editor of the Eye, who (like Mr Rumsey) is also looking somewhat older than he did.
