Thanks to all for your prayers. Mrs RR saw a medic quickly and blood tests etc are planned. I finally spoke to a sensible lady who explained my GP had sent the request for an echocardiogram to the wrong hospital. Now, hopefully, corrected.
One always feels better after felling you are doing something about issues. PTL!
Beloved grandson Huxley/ Little Beaky has arrived safely for a holiday with his family in the South of France , accompanied by a full contingent of carers.
It is truly a logistical mountain that our daughter has to climb to enable this to happen (For example all seven members of their party have to use their cabin luggage allowance solely to carry on his medical equipment!) but it's a mountain they willingly tackle because they are determined that Huxley should lead as normal a life as possible.
So I'm very thankful they got there safely- only one hair-raising moment at airport security here in the UK where it took 45 minutes to clear all Huxley's stuff and they took away his suction machine to check it and despite being told it is essential for his breathing they took forever to bring it back during which time he coughed and then choked......our daughter cleared his airway with physio but it could have been really bad.
Huxley is now in his element as he loves sunshine and water.
well we got to the hospital on time, I had a batch of tests and then a long meeting (Mrs RR in attendance ) with a lovely lady. All blood tests came back normal. The ECG was interesting'. The titanium heart valves are working OK (phew!) . The the heart is really pretty good, all things considered. The heart rate is not dangerously low. But what I do have, to be investigated further, is atrial fibrilation. This can bevery distressing and scary but is not necessarily dangerous. It can be controlled with medication and I don't need surgery
She reassured us I could, and should, resume exercise and other normal physical activities without fear the heart will suddenly give out.
She thought my exhaustion is a symptom of depression and wants this followed up.
The Big D, eh? ... been there before .... I sorta know what to do, but .... tricky .....
After this quite exhausting meeting (Mrs RR, as is her way, took copious notes and collected a whole bunch of leaflets) we ended up for prayer in the hospital chapel with the chaplain, who - by happy chance - I'd met previously in a Covid ward. PTL!
That sounds like a pretty perfect hospital visit @RockyRoger, so glad for you. Very sensible of MrsRR to be taking notes. In that sort of situation it is very easy to forget something vital that was said.
Sounds like a very good appointment, @RockyRoger! I can imagine you and Ms. RR feel a great deal of relief. Yes, I have friends with a-fib, and they seem to deal with it well with medication.
Had a very helpful situation with the psychologist as part of a clinical trial I'm participating in. I've been feeling overwhelmed of late and the session I just had helped me cope with things a bit better.

Yes indeed! Prayers ascending that all goes well.
And congratulations @Zoe
