  • Here I go again. Changed a correct answer to incorrect (why? ?) and then we have a damn fool thing about a US proprietary brand of God knows what :rage:
  • EAsy today ? they're only "easy" when you know the answers

... a US proprietary brand of God knows what :rage:
There are advantages to moving over the Pond.

PS It doesn't work as well as Fairy Liquid.
  • Grief my guessometer was working on the US specific questions 😮
  • jedijudyjedijudy Heaven Host
That's what I get for just skimming a question!
  • Horror films! I confess now I'm a coward when it comes to the gory flick - I can't even watch Psycho despite knowing what is going to happen and when.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I'm indebted to the Guessometer for the horror film question - I plumbed the depths of the "questions I think we've had before" drawer of my mental filing cabinet.

7 Up? Is that still a thing in the US, then? 🤨
  • There used to be a very rude, short joke there about Snow White...

I think you can still get it here in Canada. Didn't stop me getting it wrong though - I was thinking of the flavours rather than the colours on the tin. <brickwall>

    2. wet_kipper (310 points, 14 wins)
    3. ceesharp (278 points, 3 wins)
    4. TreeBee (233 points, 0 wins)
    5. Gussie (232 points, 1 wins)

And if I start this month at the bottom, then at least the only way is up
  • Finally getting back into playing the Crew's Quiz!

Clearly I should not do it when waiting for my blood sugars to come back up. I am significantly slower. However, I can't blame my two wrong answers on anything other than not knowing a thing about films.

Thanks! I haven’t seen it around in the UK for some years.
  • friendly hint for the rest of you for today's quiz - advice for any test or exam which I should have listened to myself

    READ THE WHOLE QUESTION. :disappointed:
  • friendly hint #2 for brits - what we would think to get at a surgery in other places can be bought over-the-counter.
  • I'm just generally slower at the quiz it seems. Can't blame today's speed on anything but I'm pleased with the 10/10.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Got my Greek and Roman gods mixed up. <brickwall>
  • 😳I’ve never read Tom Sawyer.
  • I think the question about left hand typing could have been clearer ...

Yes, I didn’t get that til I saw the answer.

I wasted time on trying to work out whether it was talking the actual longest word, or referring to the letters typed by the left hand by ‘proper’ typing, only to then get it wrong! 😂

Oh bugger - got the song wrong. My excuse is that I was very young in 1973, and hadn't really discovered pop music yet.
  • Fantastic start to the day - they have an incorrect answer for one question that I suspect every UK person will get "right" - in other words, wrong. Anyone who gets a 10, what were you thinking?
  • I got 10. I can't go back and see the questions again, but perhaps after today's quiz finishes you can say what the problem question and answer were.
  • I’m intrigued too because I also got 10 yesterday.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
    10/10 in 34 seconds - I'll take that!

It was about what linked the Manchester terrier, the colonial police force and something else I can't remember. The correct answer was "Black and Tan and they had Black and TEn.

    Major howler.
  • I put black and tan and got it right. I saw the black and ten decoy answer which was there to catch the skim-readers, but I avoided it. Are you sure you aren't mistaken?
  • Yes. My (literal) ship-mates saw it too. *

I made a Shout-Out comment but also emailed the quiz hosts so I suspect they changed it.

    * none of us had had a drink - you don't when you're taking a yacht across the world's busiest sea-lanes.

I also clicked Black and Tan.
  • Well I clicked Black and Tan and got a bright red X... :rage:

I'm fairly sure it was Black and Tan when I clicked it.

eta re today's quiz: another film of which I've never heard. :rage:

Go and see the Downton Abbey movie Piglet and take D with you; I promise you'll love it, if only for Maggie Smith.

  • **update**

FunTrivia have got back to me: "wrong answer" report was acted on and a change made but no way to make it retrospective (if you see what I mean). I didn't think me and the sailing pals had imagined it.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Stuff Mr. Bush senior and his vegetable preferences!
  • I'm relieved that none of us seem to be losing our marbles then.
  • Oh dear, I think I am 😂!
  • Quiz shows did for me!
  • jedijudyjedijudy Heaven Host
Don't you hate it when you change a right answer to a wrong one? I certainly do!
  • I'm not anti quiz shows but I didn't have first-hand experience of any that were listed ...
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
One of the very few benefits of cross-Pond television.

  • You need to be logged in to play this game! Another doggone hurdle to jump over! When & why was this ordained? I'v always been able to click into the 'game' directly from here. I guess you don't need my extra-slow times any more. Preparing to flounce. Nah, just joking.
  • 😂 I honestly thought someone would take a ridiculous and inappropriate name in that last question. This reflects my impression of the choice of names by some US celebrities, I confess 😳
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I made a lucky guess - I don't even know what a powerpuff girl is.

I'm so tickled! I was in first place yesterday!!
    Definitely not there today!!!

Thanks, WK - it's presumably something a childless oldie like me won't know about!
