10/10 in 40 seconds and still bottom of the heap! :disappointed:

He who hesitates is... 1 second off the pace. Dammit.

Do you still have to provide a signature when using a credit card in the USA?

    Agree.
This isn’t true for the U.K.

1 second off the current pace again today. Ouch.

I suspect that quiz question is just very old and outdated.

Yes. That's right. I'm rolling my eyes because we can do better than this, credit card companies!!!!

Grief, we haven’t had signing for credit cards in the UK for years. Do your still have those machines with the carbon paper, in some shops, too?

@McMaverick , I would not be a bit surprised. I also suspect there are boys dipping girls pigtails into ink wells someplace too. Not kidding!
  • (now that the time has past) - I thought the question was about the debit card use, and the mention of the credit card was just extraneous information taking up reading time while getting to the actual question and answer ?

I was focussing on speed today, and have recorded my fastest time.
  • SarasaSarasa All Saints Host
Golly I can't have been very awake today 6/10 and 62 seconds.
  • I guessed the tree and got it right!
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
So did I, but not the dictionary question.
  • Yuk! A fizzy drink with that name wouldn’t sell in the UK!
  • Well done McM - you've just given everyone else the answer. :rage:

Firstly, I put it in a spoiler. Secondly, I didn’t give them the answer even if they read it. I commented on one answer.
    🙄 it’s a fun quiz, not a serious exam.

    Play nicely, gentlemen!

    Easy to guess...

Another day where the right answer may be your wrong answer, IYSWIM.

So basically one of the questions relies on my ability to recognise the questioner's idea of a good pun? That's ridiculous.
  • Yeah, that one threw me for a minute, trying to find a proper book not a bad pun.
  • failed on that one; I have enough with neurological processing issues without having to second guess puns.

They seem to quite like questions like that. <rolleyes>

Special shout-out to @Anna_Baptist for her 13th win in a row.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I'm back in the top 10! <yipee>

    PS - well done AB!
  • Thank You TheOrganist and Piglet.

I know I'm not the fastest of the players, I know that my points average isn't always the highest, I know that my ratio of wins to plays isn't the best. I'm regularly beaten in these categories. I'd like to think that I'm a tribute to the virtue of turning up, and that it's in large part because I play every day that I've been doing so well at winning the monthly crown.

Of course, I'm now feeling under intense pressure to get victory number 14.
  • Wet KipperWet Kipper Shipmate
I'd like to think I would challenge you, if I remembered to play on the days I'm not supposed to be w*rking
  • Yes, Wet Kipper,

You're one of the people who worries me.

Astonished today to have hit so many right guesses.

I really, really hate it when there's a question relating to a company that isn't international.

today I'm glad the Guessometer knows more about sportsing than I do
  • It obviously forgot when it got to me.
  • Changed a right to a wrong

The Guessometer needs its film knowledge recalibrating.

I think the hair question is nonsense. You can tell I chose the ‘wrong’ answer 😉 I don’t think the word ‘treat’ is the right one for most of the issues. I think there is a remedy for dealing with all of them. I’m taking this too seriously. 😂

I wish to further the discussion on this point, so am putting the rest of my comment in a spoiler, do not open if you do not want this to potentially affect your performance in today's quiz.
I focused more on the (sexist? / stereotypical) way that a certain demographic was mentioned in the question as more likely to be affected

that did not, however, stop me from being a lot slower than usual today
  • McMaverickMcMaverick Shipmate
Yes - and there are several ‘treatments’ for it all of the conditions.

Only one on the board, but I won’t be staying at the top with a time like that. I had to read one question 3 times before I got what they were after 😂
  • What a strange question!
  • BroJamesBroJames Purgatory Host
Woohoo! My best ever time. More than one person has competed, and I’m not at the bottom If the table.
