I was dozing off last night and had brief but very vivid dream of being somewhere and being aware that I had not seen Sniff (my second cat, who was the most stuck up cat ever) in some time.
In my dream I said "Has anybody seen Sniffie? She's been gone for a few days it seems". Then I looked over into the next (dream) room and she was there on the sofa.
I went over to pet her, and she was glaring at me in her usual fashion and out of nowhere my last cat, Pizz, jumped onto her from some height and pushed her off the sofa. Then he flopped over on his side and happily accepted the pets that Sniff was about to refuse.
So funny how our departed furry companions still retain their individual personalities even in our dreams.
Hey, @mousethief, I'm the both/and guy round here ... π
Perhaps I ought to play Devil's Advocate and say 'neither/nor' as cats lick their arses, kill birds and crap in the veg patch and dogs bite and crap in parks and stick their noses in people's crotches.
They should both be banned.
But really I like both but have only ever had cats. I get on with dogs though.
All our cats have enjoyed the outdoors and thrived in it. Hercules enjoyed a hike with us in the Pentland hills (we took a picnic for him too), Merlin liked to explore the river bank here, and in his youth, Griffon was an avid tree climber. Ajo had lived with our student daughter in an apartment in Montreal, and was hard to keep indoors once he discovered the outdoors. Calvin just liked hiding out. It can be a high risk life that ended badly for Ajo, but indoor cats seem (in my experience) to develop dull personalities and are not good company. In their old age you can't reminisce with them over a glass of whisky about their wild youth.
I'm never comfortable with dogs, but our neighbour has a rather wild new one that must be possessed by friendly demons of some kind - she (the dog) is friendly in a way to which I am entirely unaccustomed.
We had a panic last night when we thought that our silver Aby had jumped. through an open window and escaped. Much prayer later Darllenwr went upstairs to switch his computer on and found Soloman asleep in t cat hammock.
My and Mrs RR's love of cats is being severly tested at the moment by a new cat in the area, a young, friendly black and white tom who will enter our dwelling whenever any door or window is left opened. The problem is he's not neutured and seems to delight in spraying here there and everywhere. The smell is pungent and needs immediate cleaning up (with a weak bleach solution). Our two cats just seem to ignore him. I've just bought a powerful water pistol. This bungalow's not big enough for the two of us!
Bleach smells like wee to cats. Simple Solution is the best as it's enzyme based.

As long as you know how to grill them properly and have a good BBQ sauce.

Many thanks!
PS - it can be used for any bodily fluids so useful for when they chuck up as well, smells better to humans than bleach too.
